So excited for this project w/@npqic. 1st step to effective change is understanding population. We hope these data will help improve outcomes of babies with brain injury throughout NE and the region. Already enrolling at @unmc and @ChildrensOmaha. #HIE goo.gl/yKqiX2

🌟Exciting Developments in the Advancement of Neonatal HIE Research! The article "Data Collection Variability Across Neonatal Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy Registries" is now available open access! 📖 HIE registries worldwide collect crucial patient data, but variability in data collection limits collaboration. Standardizing data elements is key to improving neonatal HIE outcomes globally. Read, download, and share the findings from our Guidelines & Publications Committee 🔗 bit.ly/4jJjlCB #research #hie

CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) has provided real-time data and analysis about disease outbreaks and emerging health threats without a break every week since 1960. Until today.

If your family has been affected by HIE, please consider adding your voice to this project! Partnering with @HopeforHIE and @UNOmaha we are developing an AI based educational resource for families of children with HIE. We need experts (families) to help guide this work.
Hope for HIE ☀️@HopeforHIE

NEW PROJECT ALERT! Building Education for HIE through AI 💛🩵💙 Facing a diagnosis of neonatal or pediatric-acquired HIE can be filled with uncertainty, and it often feels like learning about a new world that you didn’t know existed. This burden of seeking educational resources and support to help you understand a complex diagnosis like HIE and how best to help your child often feels like it is solely on your shoulders. In partnership with researchers from the University of Nebraska (IRB #0092-24-EX), we are collaborating on a project to better understand the educational and support needs of the Hope for HIE community. Specifically, we are hoping to understand how AI may be used and developed into a tailored, personalized, and accessible educational resource using what is called large language modeling (LLM). The study team is looking for 10 participants to engage in three (3) 1-hour video interviews via teleconferencing software, with the option to serve as beta testers when the tool is developed in future project phases. Participants will be compensated for their time and participation. The in-depth interviews aim to better understand the facilitators and barriers the Hope or HIE community faces when seeking educational information and support programming around HIE. If you aren't selected for an interview, or don't have the time to be a part of the interviews, fill out the survey anyway to be a part of the beta testing team! HIE is the top cause of #NeonatalEncephalopathy. NE is identified as a leading global burden of disease in this analysis in @TheLancet, ahead of many other focus areas in #neonatology and #neurology. Seems like we need to address inequity in funding & emphasis on improving this #NeoTwitter. 👀👀👀👀 @AAPneonatal @AAPGlobalHealth @WHO @UNICEF — join with us this April for our annual global #HIEawarenessmonth & the 2024 theme of #TransformingHope. thelancet.com/journals/laneu…

So far some amazing talks from international leaders in neonatal brain development and injury, #INBBC day1. Side effects may include increased motivation, improved patient care… and brain-related hallucinations? Anyone else seeing neural networks in the conference room floor?

We should be clear with parents on risks and potential benefits for PDA treatments. We need to have clinical equipoise to consent and enroll patients in acetaminophen and catheter closure trials to inform PDA care #HotTopicsNeo2023 #neoTwitter #neoEBM #PDA
