@TheMuppetPastor Some Christians think you must automatically forgive everyone who sins against you or you will not be forgiven. But Jesus says forgive your brother who REPENTS no matter how many times he offends. No repentance, no forgiveness. (no bitterness either)

Let’s talk about a bible verse that is true, but is also often misapplied. ““You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” Matthew 5:43-45 ESV First of all, yes, Jesus IS asking us to love those who hate us and pray for those who persecute us. We aren’t permitted to hate others, and when we can show mercy to those who don’t deserve it, we reflect Jesus’ grace for us. The problem is that many people read these verses and think that “love” means “allow the enemy to continually abuse you”. This is a lie from the pit of hell. Love doesn’t mean that we allow someone to harm us repeatedly without consequences. In fact, if we love our enemy, sometimes we are forced to stop them from sinning further than they are. Jail can be love if it stops abuse or violence. We need to understand the context to the gospels that today’s readers might miss: Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount frequently addressed Old Testament laws, scripture, Jewish sayings, or societal attitudes, and then contrasted them with His teachings. He referenced Leviticus 19:18. “You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.” Leviticus 19:18 ESV Many Jews read this to mean unity in Judaism, but not love for goyim and Gentiles. They would also justify this with imprecatory psalms of hatred for God’s enemies. Jesus was saying “you may have heard to love your fellow Jews as yourselves, but I am saying to also love Gentiles and pray for the Romans who persecute you.” This was a shocking lesson for a closed society of Hebrews to learn. And it’s just as difficult for us today. Yet that lesson must be understood in its context. Jesus was truly teaching us to love all nationalities and races, and to pray for enemies. But if we read this with 2026 eyes, we can misunderstand this teaching as some means of tolerating abuse. Jesus was NEVER advocating for that, and it becomes more apparent when we see the way He was comparing and contrasting OT law with His teachings. So please, if any of you are in an abusive relationship, get out of it. Don’t read this scripture and think that somehow Jesus wants you to stay and be harmed. Loving someone like we love ourselves means that we love ourselves! And that starts with honor and respect.

the vast majority of human health issues can be solved by simply not eating garbage foods. eat meat, eat plants, eat what you want as long as it's single ingredient foods and foods with ingredients your great-grandmother would recognize. why is this so hard for us to grasp?

I hear Debra here. We're not like-minded, but I understand what she's struggling with. Nature won't give you permanent comfort. Work won't. Vacations won't. The emptiness in our hearts is the absence of God. Debra, Jesus is waiting to fill those empty spaces and bring you a permanent safety. Choose Him, and be amazed at what real Peace feels like.

@paulsaladinomd I eat there about twice a month. The filet mignon and prime rib are both good options, no bread, loaded baked potato and green beans (I know) but now I'm going to sneak in my own butter, It's fine. I'll deal with the miniscule amount of seed oils that they put on the steak.

@DavidG31929356 @paulsaladinomd I do! I eat there at least twice a month after a late heavy workout because it's open until 10pm. There's better steakhouses, like Salt Grass, but its sill good, we usually eat filet mignon and prime rib with a loaded baked potato, but now I'm prob gonna bring my own butter.

Oysters. The food that filter-feeds through whatever water it happens to be living in, concentrating heavy metals, bacteria, agricultural runoff, and raw sewage into a small grey blob of uncertain texture. And we serve them raw on ice and call it fine dining. The oyster is not a delicacy. The oyster is a water treatment system. You are eating the sewage filter and telling your date it tastes like the sea. It does taste like the sea. That's the problem.

As someone new to this, can Christians explain why Erika Kirk forgave the man who allegedly murdered her husband, but sent out cease-and-desist legal threats to podcasters? In Christianity, why are murderers forgiven, but podcasters are threatened and condemned? Thanks!
