JUST IN: Tshwane MMC for Corporate and Shared Services, Clir Kholofelo Morodi has been fired. This follows testimony at the Madlanga Commission. “The material before me reflects a pattern of engagement and conduct over an extended period, including an inappropriate relationship between Clir Morodi and Sergeant Nkosi, which raises serious concerns regarding the handling of information and adherence to the standards expected of members of the executive,” said Mayor @nasiphim

Gauteng Husband Arrested for Allegedly Drugging, R*ping Wife and Sharing Videos Online South African Police Service (SAPS) officers have arrested two suspects, including a 34-year-old Boksburg man accused of repeatedly drugging and r*ping his wife before distributing pornographic videos of the assaults on an exclusive social media channel over five years. The arrests took place on Thursday, 26 March 2026, as part of a multi-disciplinary operation by the national Serial and Electronic Crime Investigations (SECI) team. Police say the husband allegedly administered drugs to render his wife unconscious, committed sexual assaults while she was sedated, recorded the acts, and shared the material online without her consent. A second 48-year-old suspect, known to the first and with a similar modus operandi, was arrested the same day in nearby Germiston. Forensic experts seized electronic devices from both men containing images and videos linked to drug-facilitated sexual abuse, as well as child s*xual abuse material. Two unlicensed firearms were also recovered from the second suspect. The investigation was triggered by intelligence from the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA), passed through the British High Commission in Cape Town, and involved support from the US Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Both suspects are due to appear in the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court today, Friday 27 March, facing charges that include sexual assault, possession and distribution of child s*xual abuse material, possession of unlicensed firearms, and contravention of Section 16 of the Cybercrimes Act for sharing intimate images without consent. Investigations and forensic analysis of the devices are ongoing. Police have not named the suspects or the victim.

In 2009, I walked into @StandardBankZA at Boulders Midrand with a simple plan. Save R500 every month. No touching it. No thinking about it. Just discipline on autopilot. First year at SABC as a broadcast technician. First real income. First attempt at being financially responsible. So I did what any serious saver would do. I created a system where I could forget the money even existed. Opened the account at the branch. Back when deposit slips still had authority. To activate it, they told me to deposit cash at the ATM. Fair enough. I deposited the money into what I believed was my brand new savings account. Got my paperwork. Felt official. Felt grown. Then I automated everything. Monthly transfers from FNB. No emotions. Just consistency. Four or five months later, curiosity got the better of me. I went back to the same branch to check my progress. I expected pride. Maybe even a small internal speech about discipline. Instead, I got: “There’s no account under your name.” At first I thought they were joking. I said, “Kanjani? I opened it here. I’ve been depositing every month.” They checked again. “You only had a Mzansi account. It’s closed.” Now the story starts to feel like a prank. Because I had receipts. I had a memory. And I had money leaving my FNB account like clockwork. I tried to escalate it. Meetings were set. Or at least… supposed to be. One bank manager never showed up. On my way back from that meeting, the envelope with all my paperwork disappeared. Taxi ride. One moment it’s there. Next moment… gone. No evidence. No account. No money trail I could prove. Case closed. Not by resolution. By exhaustion

Father gets life for murder of three-week-old son A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his three-week-old infant son in Driekoppies, Mpumalanga. Sibusiso Patrick Shongwe was convicted in the High Court in Mpumalanga for the killing of his baby boy in March 2023. The court heard that Shongwe initially denied paternity when the mother, Noluthando Mlambo, fell pregnant and urged her to terminate. On the night of 1 March 2023, Shongwe arranged to meet Mlambo and the baby, claiming he wanted to provide items for the child. When they met on the street with the child's grandmother, Shongwe sent the grandmother away. Shortly afterwards, three unknown men accosted Mlambo, allowing Shongwe to snatch the infant and flee. The baby's body was discovered in bushes two days later. A post-mortem revealed the child died from sharp-force injuries to the neck. During the trial, Shongwe denied taking the child, but State Advocate Senzo Zindela presented compelling evidence, including witness testimony and a confession. The court heard Shongwe had shown no remorse. In sentencing, the judge noted the high levels of violent crime in South Africa and the erosion of respect for human life. Finding no substantial compelling circumstances to deviate from the prescribed minimum sentence, the court imposed life imprisonment. Shongwe was declared unfit to possess a firearm, and his application for leave to appeal was dismissed.
