URGENT: To the @FBI and @SecretService: X user Mark Rakocy (@Mark_Rakocy) of Niles, Ohio just threatened to kill me and kill President @BarackObama. He's a real person and he won't stop threatening me. I submitted a threat report via the FBI website, but it didn't let me include this information. Please do something about this guy ASAP.

We want to update you on an incident that happened with our Grok response bot on X yesterday. What happened: On May 14 at approximately 3:15 AM PST, an unauthorized modification was made to the Grok response bot's prompt on X. This change, which directed Grok to provide a specific response on a political topic, violated xAI's internal policies and core values. We have conducted a thorough investigation and are implementing measures to enhance Grok's transparency and reliability. What we’re going to do next: - Starting now, we are publishing our Grok system prompts openly on GitHub. The public will be able to review them and give feedback to every prompt change that we make to Grok. We hope this can help strengthen your trust in Grok as a truth-seeking AI. - Our existing code review process for prompt changes was circumvented in this incident. We will put in place additional checks and measures to ensure that xAI employees can't modify the prompt without review. - We’re putting in place a 24/7 monitoring team to respond to incidents with Grok’s answers that are not caught by automated systems, so we can respond faster if all other measures fail.

Super cool how we base all future decisions on a skill around a survey that 4,000 people (out of >60k who played the alpha) filled out. I’ve said it for a while but jagex’s recent stance to survey everything to death is a detriment towards accumulating meaningful feedback.

How are you going to get an interview with Putin unless you butter him up first? Just saying. If I was Friedman, I would however, tread carefully and not ingest or do anything while in Russia that would require me to receive regular allowances from the Russian regime for the continuation of life or health etc, for the rest of my life.

I'm sure Lex will be just amazed with Putin’s honesty, integrity, rationality, and his expert knowledge of Russian history that leads his policies for peace with those pesky Ukrainians who annoyingly think they are somehow a real country.

It is funny how some platforms/streamers downplay the "we can just keep making draws" case. Exactly as they downplayed Magnus' attacks on Vishy 3 days before. As it did not happen. Of course it is easier to fight me than Indian fans. Of course now they will try to shift focus or pretend it was just a joke. Entire PR strategy is in play. So, first you own the part of the major platform/company, then you employ influential people on your projects, then you invite players to the Tour you own based on your judgment, and then all these quasi-independents are on your side, and you can sort of do whatever you want. Not quite. Social Media can't be controlled, and it is all the rage. FIDE also won't keep silent. At least I won't - and I am there to stay for quite some time.

I saw a "drone" over my house, so I: 1) Took a photo. It was dark, so it went to night mode; you could see stars. 2) Took video. Ambiguous, small cluster of lights. Similar to other "drone" videos. 3) Loaded the FR24 app, tapped AR, identified it as N121MF Total: 54 seconds.

Today, I was informed that the IF terminated my contract. Apparently my recent tweets have caused them to conclude that it is impossible to continue to work together. Since I didn't get the chance to say good-bye to my colleagues, I want to say: Thank you so much for all the interesting discussions we had and the things I learned. It was a true pleasure to work together with all of you and I wish you all great success! To the community: It was an honor to be part of such an engaging group of people - I really enjoyed our countless discussions here on X and in real life - love you guys!

Since there were a lot of comments to my last post and I cannot really answer all of them individually, I want to take the time to reply to the most common remarks / questions in a separate thread. 1. When I said that we were informed about this decision a few weeks before being done with IOTA 2.0, I meant the time in march shortly before releasing IOTA 2.0 in april earlier this year. 2. Would it be an option to roll out IOTA 2.0 on shimmer instead? I proposed and asked for exactly that back in march but was told that the IF had no interest in pursuing or supporting that direction. Considering that we haven't worked on the code for several months and lost a number of people that were part of the team that built IOTA 2.0, I don't think that this is any longer a viable option (we simply lost too much time). It would take time to get back into the flow and the remaining tasks are also mostly touching on things like adjusting the wallet + tooling and integrating the Move VM which can hardly be done by a few people on the side. 3. I am not sure why the IF stated that it would take 2-3 years to integrate an existing VM as the original estimates I heard in january this year were closer to one year and it sounds somewhat unreasonable to assume that integrating existing code would take longer than the entire research and development of our own node software (and the time should be measured from the point of time where we stopped working on our code and not from the point of time where we made this decision public). 4. I think that the community should approve the vote as we simply can not afford to lose more time. If this decision would have been discussed in march, I would have voted for a different option but now there isn't really a choice. 5. If the community is serious about the idea of continuing Shimmer on their own in the pursuit of the original vision of IOTA, then a better option might be to actually build on top of IOTA's cleaned-up SUI fork. Rust is the better programming language and integrating a simplified version of IOTAs consensus into the SUI code base could actually be done by a small team with a limited amount of time and resources. Being able to piggy-back on the developments of both IOTA and SUI, would allow the network to stay competitive in respect to features without requiring a huge treasury or being constrained by the fact that things might take longer as people are only able to work on this on the side. 6. However, people need to be aware that once this work would be completed, it could easily be copied by both SUI and IOTA, which means that it would maybe make more sense to actually work on this as a community project for IOTA that explores the possibility of a future protocol upgrade that replaces the existing consensus mechanism with something that supports liveness via ebb-and flow + the eventual possibility for users to add blocks directly to the replicated datastructure again (I think liveness should be the main focus for now if people really care about a DAG that doesn't halt as this is the only thing where blockchains are still superior). This would most probably be my favored option as it not only shows that the community takes the promise of the project becoming decentralized (and therefore open to outside contributions) serious, but it would also prevent the splitting of efforts and communities across multiple projects while leaving room for the possibility to eventually return to previous ideals in the future (if shown to be practically feasible within the context of the current codebase). I am not sure if such a community driven engineering effort would be embraced by the IF as there are already ongoing efforts to improve certain aspects of the existing consensus mechanism but it would surely send a strong message about not only the quality and strength of our community but also about its commitment to crypto ideals. Let's not forget that Hornet (our previous mainnet node) originally also started as a community project. Maybe it is time for the community to reconsider their role in this entire endavour and take back some responsibility - not by rejecting the path forward out of protest or by getting bitter, but by taking initiative and by trying to think about ways to constructively work together to propose tangible solutions for possible protocol improvements that can then be considered to be integrated into the protocol. Let's just try to make IOTA a success instead of dwelling on negative thoughts - that's really the only thing that matters as software can always be updated and improved over time (and you actually no longer need the approval of the IF to build things - that's the beauty of permissionless innovation).
Hans Moog@hus_qy

Imagine working on something for such a long time and with that much passion and a few weeks before you are done, you are informed that the plan has changed (again ...) and that we actually no longer care about any of the things that we have told everybody for years. It's really hard to put into words how disappointed and betrayed I felt after hearing this decision, especially in the absence of a possibility to even question or discuss it. It just felt so incredibly disrespectful and I will most probably never be able to see this as anything but a massive and completely unnecessary capitulation before the finishing line. However, since I still feel a commitment to the community and my colleagues and because I don't want to harm the project, this will be the last and only time that I publicly ventilate and I will from now on try to focus on the positive aspects: 1. IOTA will finally be decentralized which puts an end to this unbelievable odyssey. 2. IOTA will finally have L1 SC's utilizing an object-based move (which is currently the best VM in the space). 3. IOTA will have a state of the art bft-style consensus. So for anybody that didn't get interested in IOTA for it's vision, this might not even be such a bad thing (at least we forked the right tech). I am trying to give this a chance and stay with IOTA but it will most probably take some time for me to fully regain my enthusiasm. Right now it's time for others to take the stage and excite you and hopefully me as well with their new vision.

now that Trump might become president again. - Palestinians will no longer exist. - Ukraine will be taken over by Russia (Russia will attempt to move further into Europe). - We will be paying 3k more per year because of Trumps tarrifs. - Our taxes will stay the same, but don’t worry because Elon Musk will see his taxes go down! - Women will no longer have access to healthcare. - Mass deportation of both illegal and legal immigrants (terrible for economy). - 6 Trillions will be added to the debt compared to Harris who was only going to add 2 trillion. anddddd the leader of our country is a sexual abuser, pedophile, rapist, racist, who tried to overthrow our government. really good job guys 🫶
