Unpopular opinion about FOOD that’ll have you like this

Still amazed that this won Best Editing

What’s the most epic movie moment you’ve ever experienced in a theater?

"One of the greatest threats to public education in Chicago is the union itself and its wrongheaded insistence that CPS focus on political activism over academics. Regular working people have to show up as a condition of employment — so should the CTU." "Reading, writing and math skills are what we’re guessing most parents would prefer their kids’ teachers to emphasize." As any reasonable CPS parent would, I expect my child to be in school on May 1st, learning reading, writing, and math skills.

I'm sure the big reveal probably hasn't happened yet - but that's just plot which I don't really have an issue with. What I'm confused by is how incredibly simple and dorky the writing is... and the main character, and the dialogue. There's no complexity, no artistry, at least not that I can perceive. I don't know the author, his writing reads like an average goofy older high school science teacher with no real writing skills to speak of, but enough basic high school level science knowledge to get a job as a teacher, while dreaming of being a novelist someday (which he has somehow managed to achieve with literally peak mainstream success lol!). I really want to like it, I feel fomo seeing everyone else's fandom showering down on it... I just don't get it - it just seems like an objectively mediocre piece of writing from an objectively mediocre writer.

I saw PROJECT HAIL MARY yesterday and I don't think I've ever seen a more crowdpleasing picture in my life. It's going to kill with audiences. Just nailed every emotional and comic beat it wanted to hit. Perfectly Spielbergian pop cinema.
