The New York Knicks are signing guard Boo Buie to a two-way NBA contract, sources tell ESPN. Buie spent time with the Knicks in training camp and takes an open two-way after the signings of Ariel Hukporti and Matt Ryan.

@HankAzaria @TheSimpsons @brooklynbowl @theezstreetband Is “Brooklyn side” a Bob Murphy on Bowling for Dollars reference? As great as your Vin Scully is, I bet you’d rather have used Murphy as the voice model for your Simpsons sportscaster. I’m going to be saying “and here come the pretzels” in Bob’s voice for days to come.

@jerkyboykamal @Ozmodion1 @Jimfrombaseball Yet somehow Mantle was able to hit outside pitches despite this alleged outsized fear of getting earholed that he took to the plate with him. Or maybe you think he wasn’t?

@jerkyboykamal @Ozmodion1 @Jimfrombaseball And you just had to watch one Game of the Week in the ‘70s to hear about “keeping the hitters honest.” It must have been in Kubek and Garagiola’s contracts that they had to bring this up every week. It’s not some kind of inside baseball secret only a few people know about.

"Hitting in a game is no different than hitting in a home run contest. It pisses me off to say Barry Bonds is the greatest hitter. He's playing in a wussy era. The game is soft. You never get thrown at today. Last thing a hitter has to worry about today is getting hit. The first thing Hank Aaron had to worry about is: Am I going to survive this at-bat because I'm black." @Lawnguylander @Ozmodion1 @Jimfrombaseball I was around when Mantle was playing. And Mantle himself has said many times in interviews how they pitched him. And for like the 50th time, the comment was for the threat of getting hit, more than actually getting hit.

@jerkyboykamal @Ozmodion1 @Jimfrombaseball You weren’t around when Mantle was playing & we have no stats for brushbacks & pitches thrown behind hitters. You don’t know how often this happened. It’s just a belief you have & insistence isn’t proof. 13 HBPs across ~10K PAs strongly suggests it wasn’t happening often at all.

@jerkyboykamal @Ozmodion1 @Jimfrombaseball Mickey Mantle didn’t get hit once in his first three seasons in the majors. He once went more than 4 full seasons without getting hit. How much fear of getting hit did he take up to the plate with him?

@Ozmodion1 @Jimfrombaseball Not sure you fully understand my post. Getting hit was not as impactful as the fear of getting hit. When you have all that gear on, you don’t have fear.

@JimmyTraina @mikepriceinla Man, when he said Judge should be “stripped” I thought he was going to go someplace much darker. Like Abu Ghraib, extraordinary rendition stuff. I assume the next caller went there.

Meet Austin Capobianco (middle), the fan that interfered with Mookie. I was talking to him at a local bar when a bunch of other fans asked him to take a pic with him and for his autograph. He was a beaut. Story up soon at ESPN: “If it’s in our area, we’re going to ‘D’ up.”
