\ The Discovery: Scientists from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center found that PANDAS/PANS children with tics and OCD have autoantibodies targeting the dopamine receptor 1 (D1R). Meanwhile, those with Sydenham chorea (whiplash-like movements) have autoantibodies targeting dopamine receptor 2 (D2R). Read the paper here: buff.ly/4eqOKWG

· Promotion of Inflammatory and Pathogenic Bacterial Growth: Diets high in UPFs, often characterized by increased saturated fats, sugars, and additives, can lead to changes in gut microbiota composition. This includes a decrease in bacteria that support barrier integrity

These SCFAs help maintain the intestinal barrier and modulate immune responses. High-UPF diets, which are typically low in dietary fiber, can reduce SCFA production, leading to weakened intestinal barriers, increased translocation of harmful molecules.
