@crimsonit @AntiWokeMemes The 250,000 white girls raped by migrants line is a politicised, statistically unsupported claim, not an established fact. Truth is thousands of children have been abused by many different kinds of offenders, across communities, and the system failed many of them.

@SeddSezz Are you sure? Burnham’s roots in Makerfield are personal (he grew up nearby, lived there for decades), and regional (long political involvement in the Wigan/Leigh area). Although not previously MP for Makerfield, his career has been closely tied to the communities around it.

Listen here, noble residents of Makerfield! Burnham has parachuted into Makerfield whilst pretending to be one of us… Burnham is the sitting Mayor of Greater Manchester with no roots in this constituency. Burnham has spent years focused on Manchester, not on the streets of Makerfield or Wigan. Burnham only wants this seat so he can knife Starmer and seize the Labour leadership. Burnham will abandon this area the second he wins and heads to Westminster. Burnham doesn’t give a damn about local people or local issues. Burnham is a careerist opportunist who treats voters like pawns in his own power game. People of Makerfield! Do not be used as his launchpad. Vote for anyone but Burnham! You can see the evil in his eyes…

It is fantastic news that the Government has finally woken up to the dangers of social media for young people. This is an important step in helping parents protect childhood for children. Huge credit goes to @LauraTrottMP and my Shadow Cabinet for relentlessly fighting for this. Conservatives welcome this latest Labour U-turn, and will continue to work for the best implementation of the policy.

@DaveKent101 No less arrogant than Reform believing they're the government in waiting for an election that isn't happening until 2029! A case of "the pot calling the kettle black"

Voters of Makerfield. Andy Burnham and his team are already swanning around believing that they have your constituency in the bag. Please prove these totally arrogant people wrong, and also puncture Burnham's inflated ego by voting for Reform on Thursday. Should Rob win then the faces on Team Burnham will make for priceless viewing.🤣

@benonwine The King can't dissolve Parliament unless the Prime Minister asks him to. The power still exists in law, but convention prevents the King from acting independently. The King only acts on ministerial advice.

@DCBMEP Wrong. The duty of Makerfield voters is to use their vote to elect the person they feel will best represent Makerfield. If that's Restore then they should do that. If it's Reform then they should vote for Reform. The political shenanigans in other parties should be irrelevant.

Not sure how I’d feel if I voted Restore, only to wake up the next day to discover that I’d actually given my vote to Burnham.
Steven Swinford@Steven_Swinford

Exclusive from @patrickkmaguire Restore Britain is set to hand Andy Burnham the victory in Makerfield, according to a poll of the constituency that will electrify the final days of the by-election campaign. The mayor of Greater Manchester is five points ahead of Reform UK in a race that remains too close for comfort with less than a week until ballots are cast, a survey by More in Common and the UCL Policy Lab suggests. It shows Labour’s lead over Nigel Farage’s candidate, Robert Kenyon — 45 per cent to 40 per cent — is smaller than the 8 per cent share for Restore Britain, the hard-right party led by Rupert Lowe, with more than one in ten voters yet to decide how to vote. thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

@JeremyVineOn5 Elon Musk says inappropriate things from time to time. But the blame for the unrest in Belfast is squarely on the shoulders of the idiots wearing face masks setting fire to property. They could have stayed home, or protested peacefully. But they chose not to.

Is Elon Musk to blame for the Belfast riots, which saw homes set alight after a man was attacked with a knife? The owner of X has been criticised for "fuelling violence and hatred", and Ofcom has warned that the unrest "appears to have been incited online". What do you think?

@Neccccy Why? They really aren't courts. They are at best tribunals to settle disputes in their community. Any decision they make must be legal under British Law. And all sides have to agree to accept the findings of the tribunal. They also have no powers of enforcement.

Hello Neil, You're right that the 2021 Census shows only 46% of people in England and Wales identifying as Christian, with 37% saying no religion. But census self-identification doesn't tell the full story about Britain's cultural identity or future direction. The UK’s laws, institutions, calendar (bank holidays, Sunday rest traditions), architecture, literature, and moral framework were profoundly shaped by Christianity over centuries. Even many non-religious Brits hold values like individual liberty, equality before the law, and tolerance that developed within a Christian-influenced society. Secularism in the West largely rests on those foundations. The real issue is rapid demographic and cultural change. The Muslim population has grown from ~4.9% in 2011 to 6.5% in 2021, and projections suggest it could reach 13-17% by 2050 depending on migration and birth rates. Many areas already show parallel societies where integration is limited. Reports of intolerance toward Western dress codes or behaviour in certain neighbourhoods. Polls showing significant portions of British Muslims hold conservative views at odds with mainstream society (e.g. higher support for Sharia elements, traditional gender roles, or opposition to homosexuality compared to the general public). Actual cases of churches being converted to mosques (there are documented examples, though not on a massive scale yet). I've seen demands to remove the red cross from the English flag (St George's Cross) because it's seen as "offensive" or Crusader-related. That symbol is part of the national heritage, not something to erase. I'm not a practising Christian either, but I increasingly recognise that I have a Christian cultural identity — shaped by growing up in a country whose norms, ethics, and public square were Christian. Loss of that identity matters. A nation isn't just a collection of individuals with private beliefs; it's a shared culture, history, and way of life. Do you want Britain to become a place where churches turn into mosques, Christmas traditions fade in some areas, and freedoms taken for granted (women's rights, free speech, LGBT acceptance) are renegotiated under pressure from less compatible value systems? Sentiment is already shifting as people experience these changes on the ground. The question is: what kind of country do you want for your children and grandchildren? One that preserves the best of your Western/Christian heritage while being genuinely tolerant, or one that sleepwalks into something unrecognisable? Curious to hear your thoughts.
