Core innovation, Agentic Orchestration™, enables AI personas to know who they are, what they care about, what they know, and engage with context in character.

Sam Altman on the advice he wish he received when he enrolled in YC in 2005 Y Combinator CEO Garry Tan asks OpenAI founder Sam Altman what he wish knew when he was going through YC back in 2005. Sam responds: “I wish someone had taught me the importance of conviction and resilience over a long period of time. People don’t really talk about how hard that is. It’s easy for a little while, but your reserves kind of wear down on it.” He continues: “Also just trust that it’s eventually going to work out. Obviously my first startup [Loopt] didn’t work that well. A lot of people give up after one failed startup, but startups don’t workout all the time. Learning how to keep working through that is really important. So is developing trust in your own instincts and increasing that trust as you refine your decision-making instincts over time. Courage to work on stuff that is out of fashion but is what you believe in and care about is also really important.” Sam recently had a kid and reflects on how everyone will tell you that it’s “the best thing you will ever do, but also the hardest thing you will ever do.” He believes startups are similar: “The good parts are really great — better than you think. And the hard parts are shockingly much harder than anyone can express in a way that makes any sense to you, and you have to just keep going.” Video source: @ycombinator (2025)

@ycombinator @PerseusDefense @perseus_defense Why do you mount a drone and not just a SAM, out of curiosity? From an intercept perspective do these have AI lock on and launch to intercept the incoming drones to protect human operators? Nice work - unfortunate that we need something like this.

🚀@PerseusDefense (YC S25) is building America’s Iron Dome for drones. Their micro-guided missiles detect, identify, and eliminate incoming threats before they reach their target— for under $10K each, 2 orders of magnitude cheaper than today’s best solutions. Can be standalone or mounted on vehicles and unmanned assets. ycombinator.com/launches/Ntm-p…

On March 25, 2025, I filed a utility patent for a method to orchestrate behaviorally consistent, emotionally aware AI personas across time, context, and modality. The method enables symbolic reflection, memory decay, session-aware triggering, and autonomous persona interactions human-facing or AI-to-AI. Today, I’ve made the IP assertion public. 👉 github.com/csteinmetz/age… This is not a prompt layer. This is infrastructure for continuity, identity, and behavioral fidelity in AI. If you’re building something similar, I’d love to talk, ideally before the grant lands.

@garrytan @garrytan - hitting walls every day - run through them, over them, or under them. Don't know everything - but life has taught me that obstacles are normal in the path to success.

Steve Jobs got fired from Apple, started NeXT, failed selling the hardware, pivoted to software, then Apple bought NeXT for $400M. It became macOS. Most founders quit at the first wall. Jobs hit dozens and kept finding new paths. Great founders know they can solve the maze.

.@stevesi explains how Apple's AI strategy may be returning to their original playbook: "We're not the first mover company. We're the first integrator company." This has historically always been Apple's strategy. They don't pioneer new product categories, but they do perfect them. They rebuild products with superior design, seamless integration and intuitive user experience. The iPod, iPhone, iPad, iMac, Vision Pro weren't first, they were better. With AI though, Apple launched Apple Intelligence and other AI features which felt half-baked. Now they may be reverting back to their original playbook: wait, perfect, then ship.

I’m a founder and inventor, but also a gamer. I’ve always loved sports games. But after a few matches, the commentary gets stale. Career mode flatlines. What draws us to sports isn’t the stats, it’s the narrative. That’s what this memory method is designed to fix.

Last night an English man asked me if Trump was a dictator. I said not quite, that he mostly just wanted attention, but that he did have some Goebbelses working for him.

Building on OpenAI, I’ve been working on defining what it means for AI personas to behave like someone—across scenes, tone, and time. Filed a method architecture in Q1 (Agentic Orchestration™) to govern identity, memory, and contextual behavior. Curious how you see persona evolution unfolding at OpenAI—for good. @sama

Saw the “agentic AI” wave forming back in Q1 2025. Filed a method-level architecture (Agentic Orchestration™) for identity, memory, and context. Big market push now. I believe IP is the new moat—infra > wrappers. Curious if you still see returns shifting toward IP (like ARM or Dolby) vs. raw build speed. @paulg

@Hadley Hadley’s right, the math is snapping under the weight of inflated rounds and wrapper fatigue. Infra, like memory, fallback orchestration, and cost modeling, isn’t flashy but keeps things standing when GTM collapses. That’s why I created, filed patents, and filed trademarks.

Seed math is broken Median post-money at seed last year: $14.8M (Carta) Seed-to-A conversion rate: 13% (Carta) That implies a risk-adjusted A valuation of $114M But the median post-money at A? Just $56M (It’s actually worse once you factor in option pool refresh and post-seed bridges) So why do VCs keep piling into seed? 1) Belief that breakouts will be fast/big enough to outrun the math 2) Hope that ownership can be fixed later by doubling down 3) Everyone thinks they’re better than the median Most funds won’t make this work
