@TimGarrisonMN Does John Collins still have a restraining order against Ant after that dunk a few years ago?!? Would make things awkward. (j/k)

John Collins is a perfect fit in Minnesota; the only problem is that the Timberwolves would need to thread a needle to open the flexibility of about $13.7 million in space under the 1st apron to have a horse in the race. It's hard to see it happening, especially given the Wolves' commitment to Donte. That said, given the fit, I expect Minnesota to be dancing around John Collins in trade rumors over the next couple of transaction windows. It's such a perfect fit, but they'll have easier pathways at the trade deadline or next offseason to grab him.

@TimGarrisonMN Kyrie might be the person to “unlock” Rudy, even more than Mike Conley, because he can be a threat in the pick-and-roll while also being able to throw a lob.

I suspect a Kyrie trade would be a complicated 3 team trade if he landed in Minnesota. One of the reasons I have such an affinity for the Kyrie pathway is that I think there is a market to get assets for a Rudy Gobert. So if you can acquire Kyrie, you now have a bridge 2nd option that you can likely roll into the 2028 offseason with the capacity to trade your 2028 selection, 2033, and 2035 1sts, you’re in business for one last pivot. He’s also more than a bridge. He’s a 2nd option who can play off ball, be a pressure valve for Ant, and can run the offense and get guys like Jaden, Naz, and Ant the ball in position to get an easier bucket.

With the Wolves getting knocked out by Oklahoma City and San Antonio these last two seasons, asked Naz Reid about what they need to do to be able to catch those teams. "Probably just the moodiness. You look at both of those teams and they're playing for one another, they're excited to be on the floor with one another, they're a team where they're selfless... I think we have more than enough talent... But just being less moody. I think that's just the name of the game for us, just being less moody and more selfless."

@aevseveryone @JonKrawczynski If TJ is on the court, any chance they put the ball in his hands? Only so much he can do standing in the corner waiting for a chance to touch be ball.

@JonKrawczynski Is there a case for Chris Finch giving Terrence Shannon Jr. more rotational minutes to inject rim pressure and shot creation when the offense stalls during this Nuggets series?

@JakePaynting Maybe put Conley in the corner where he can be a spot-up shooter? And let TJ have the ball in his hands as someone who can break the paint?

Things I think need to happen in one of the next two games: Gobert has to get back to some semblance of dominance Conley only playing in the Brown/Strawther/Tyus minutes, if at all Jaden running more high spread PnR TJ and/or Clark playing and impacting

@DaneMooreNBA @KyleTheige Would Kyle Anderson count as a "back-up center" based on size and defensive ability? No idea what it would take to acquire him, but would seem to fit into a lower tier from a salary and expense of trade. Thanks for the consistently amazing content!!

The Wolves held the Thunder to their 2nd lowest offensive rating (102.9) last night. It was a great gameplan on SGA, a commitment to that scheme, and execution we don't always see from them. Here's how they did it: youtube.com/watch?v=1MLVO8…

Anthony Edwards on winning defensive player of the year, and MVP “I don’t really think I’m going to be able to win Defensive Player of the year, I got two of the best defenders on my team, so it’s gonna be hard for me to win… as long as my impact is there every night I should be okay. As long as I make the all defensive team that means something… MVP and championship that’s the goal”

@DaneMooreNBA The Lynx told Phee to target a 50/40/90 season for MVP, which she should have won. Could that be a goal for Ant this season? Less about shot diet, more about being a consistent threat to score.

In the 2023-24 season, Anthony Edwards took 38% of his shots from midrange and only 30% of his shots from 3. The 2024-25 season was Edwards' highest and most effective scoring season of his career in large part due to the fact that he shot only 28% of his shots from midrange and 45% of his shots from 3. - The best Edwards has ever shot from midrange in a single season was 39% - Edwards made 40% of his 3s last season - For his career, Edwards has made 36.7% of his midrange shots and 37.0% of his 3-point shots

@PurpleForTheWin Seemed like at least 4 or 5 times where Pace met the RB or QB with a chance for a tackle, but just went in for the hit without wrapping up. That does not work with players like Robinson, Penix, or Williams from the first game.

@HowlsAndGrowls_ I’m curious to learn what qualifies as “mastering” the mid-range jumper. Is it % made, % of total shots taken, or something else? Thanks for your consistently excellent analysis!

Improving his mid-range game would be the perfect way to round out Anthony Edwards' scoring game. He should live in the paint and beyond the arc, but there's plenty of situations a mastered mid-range jumper would help his scoring package. Here's how: youtu.be/GzSP7Dv0ZnY

@Stitch379464652 @TakeshiKovacs37 Of course the title was the ultimate goal, but at the time they made the deal they had only won 1 playoff series in 30 years. Rudy came in, helped them to 2 WCFs, won DPOY, gave Ant, Jaden, Naz valuable playoff experience. Mission accomplished. Period.

Rudy Gobert often talks about the importance of his teammates trusting him. And then how it's on him to "dominate" when they do. So I asked him this morning about how he handles possessions or periods of time when his teammates don't showcase that trust in him. Also asked about the possessions when his teammates do trust him and he does not reward their trust with production.
