@SecKennedy, please #AuditECT, a treatment given on a grandfathered medical device the FDA ruled in 2018 "the device is deemed to be adulterated within the meaning of section 501(f)(1)(A) of the FD&C Act, and subject to seizure and condemnation under section 304 of the FD&C Act (21 U.S.C. 334)." federalregister.gov/d/2018-27809/p… That has yet to be enforced. Instead, an unknown entity successfully petitioned CMS to increase ECT Medicare reimbursements 72% in FY2025. bhbusiness.com/2024/07/31/cms… If that doesn't increase risk of overuse on what should be an adulterated medical device, I don't know what will, especially considering "Shock Therapy is the most profitable practice in psychiatry, and economics strongly influences when shock is given and who gets it. In Texas, the only state that keeps track, 65-year-olds get 360% more shock therapy than 64-year-olds. The difference: Medicare pays." -Denis Cauldon, USA TODAY Please enforce 21 CFR Part 882 [Docket No. FDA-2014-N-1210] to eliminate this form of Medcare Fraud. @HHS_Jim @Nick

Remember that Elder's only been learning it for maybe 6 months? After a full year in the field (late 1960's), my dad would answer the phone, people would ask to speak with an American Missionary, they wouldn't believe he was one until he purposefully chose to make a mistake in what he was saying so that they would believe he really was American. He only had the LTC in Salt Lake for... was it 3 weeks? And then extra time to learn in the field. My dad served with a dear elder in Korea who worked so hard to learn, but never did. That said, my dad said that when this elder taught, the people would look at my dad and say, in tears, "I have no idea what he just said, but why do I feel such love? What was he saying?" Good missionaries are only vessels for the Holy Ghost. It's the spirit, not the missionaries that does the real teaching.

My dad served in 1966-69. He had hordes of children flocking after him on the hills chanting "big nose" they would laugh and let the kids measure their noses. He has so many wonderful stories of the Korean people and culture that I love them through his eyes. Weekly on my mission in Dallas he sent me stories from his mission. They are a treasure. We've convinced him to keep them coming now that his grandchildren are serving missions. Literal Pioneer stories he witnessed and lived with a people he adores.

@TeeplesCY @Yaksayi There are a lot more foreigners in Korea now than when I was on my mission in 1983. There were so few then (especially in the countryside) that my companion and I would say to each other “hey look, there’s an American” just like the Koreans would do when they saw us.

Of course! I use all kinds of things that are common (post-it notes, posted signs, alarms, reminders, journal/daily planner (@bestselfjournal), @simplemindapp to organize thoughts, biPAP (previously), shower chair, rails, adapted tub/shower head, etc) and less common (Musician's ear filters, alt-format text for listening to books/articles, BARD Library, Alternative Augmentative Communication (AAC) strategies as needed, tilt-recline power wheelchair (RoviX3) when leaving the house, LifeGlider (posterior walker) around the house, wheelchair transport van, ramp with bumpers outside the house, Used @GetTheFabulous app for building and keeping my routine for a long time (but had to stop when it became a paid subscription), @GiraffeBottle for independent hydration when I am in my @TactileMedical Flexitouch, @Biophysicscorp Luisa ventilator (just prescribed this month awaiting wheelchair adaptions and humidifier delivery)... auto door openers (fellow humans work, too!), @Jansport wheelchair bags, @BlueMountain wheelchair mounts... I haven't identified them all, becoming @CRCcert helped me learn assistive technology comes in so many shapes and sizes and gave me a network of rehab providers who have so many different specialties that come up with AT that has improved my quality of life in so many ways!

Medicare fraud has drained taxpayer dollars for decades—but it ends now at @HHSGov. We are deploying cutting-edge AI to detect fraud in real time and stop fraudulent payments before they ever leave the Treasury. This year alone, we’re saving tens of billions of dollars and protecting the integrity of Medicare for the Americans who depend on it.

My sister @cameyandersen sent me this photos today - first time seeing. It was taken shortly after Elder Maxwell beat me 11-7 in ping pong in his basement after letting me start with 7 points. I was shell shocked and never fully recovered. Also the 90s are undefeated.

🇯🇵 JAPAN STARTUP UNVEILS STAIR-CLIMBING RIDE — ESCALATOR VERSION COMING NEXT Lifehub Inc. just unveiled the Avest — an all-terrain electric wheelchair that climbs stairs, handles rough ground, and boards buses and trains without help. Set to hit the market in 2026, Avest uses caterpillar tracks to scale inclines up to 40° while keeping the rider upright and comfortable. Lifehub isn’t stopping there — the company is already working on the world’s first wheelchair that can ride escalators solo. CEO Hiroshi Nakano: “This is about freedom. We want to break barriers, not just build devices.” Source: Kyodo News

🇯🇵 KAWASAKI UNVEILS HYDROGEN-POWERED RIDABLE ROBOTIC HORSE Kawasaki revealed “Corleo,” a hydrogen-powered robotic horse you can ride, at Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025. Powered by a 150cc hydrogen engine, Corleo walks on four robotic legs, responds to body movements instead of controls, and can even jump. It’s still a concept, but Kawasaki is targeting a possible market release by 2050. Source: @nexta_tv

Lifehub Inc.’s Avest is a game-changer for mobility, tackling stairs and rough terrain with its caterpillar tracks while ensuring rider stability up to 40° inclines. Set for 2026, it’s not just a wheelchair—it’s a step toward independence, letting users board buses and trains unaided. CEO Hiroshi Nakano’s vision of breaking barriers shines through, and the escalator-capable version in development could push the boundaries even further. If they pull it off, this could redefine what’s possible for wheelchair users, blending innovation with real-world freedom. Exciting stuff from Japan’s startup scene!

Today at church 10 minutes into the service, the leader got up and asked the congregation to stand up, go home and church was cancelled. There was some type of threat and a call was made out of safety to shut things down. Never in my 46 yrs of attending has this happened. Church will resume next Sunday, but there was a moment where the Michigan attack on our church came to mind and it was nerve wracking. Glad nothing happened today.

I certainly miss him, but his memory is kept alive by so many stories and experiences others have had. Few others get that kind of faith promoting experience so regularly. Clearly, I need it!

My cousin and his wife served 10.5 years across the country teaching about family history in public schools, libraries and community fairs. They had entire school auditoriums filled with students and when the students took the information home, the parents often asked the school for a similar presentation in the evenings and filled the school again!

Want to strengthen your emotional resilience? Figure out who you are and where you’re from! Be a detective! Learn about your #familyhistory. Your DNA is so strong your bloodlines have made it to 2026! Clearly your ancestors had grit! Tap into them! Delve into where you’re from! Learn about your culture! Find out what made your ancestors strong and refusing to give up! It’s what’s helped me and NYT research shows it can help you, too! My cousin and his wife have taught youth in Alabama’s public libraries and schools teaching how to dig into a family’s roots, learn what made their ancestors overcome terrible circumstances, to pass that strength on to that make them who their descendants are today. The stories they have about these youth choosing to draw strength from their ancestors is absolutely exciting and gives me hope for the future. He and his wife loved this work so much they extended their 18 month mission 10.5 YEARS! Now they’re returning home to Idaho and enjoy their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Are you 26 or older and feeling a lack of purpose, or that you’re not really needed in building Christ’s Kingdom? That is absolutely not true! The Church News shared this beautiful story about Elder and Sister Futral who didn’t always imagine themselves serving a mission. With a daughter with Down syndrome still living at home, they initially hesitated — until their stake president approached them about a local service opportunity at the bishops’ storehouse. “We agreed to do it for one year because we weren’t sure how it would work with our daughter,” Elder Futral recalled. “It ended up being a five-year mission.” Now, years later, the Futrals and their daughter, Sister Vanessa Futral — all set apart as missionaries — serve together. Sister Futral smiled, explaining that one of Vanessa’s unofficial assignments is to give free hugs. In an interview with Church News, Vanessa smiled, arms around both of her parents, and said that giving hugs is her favorite part of her mission. The truth and a sacred invitation- Former Prophet President Russell M. Nelson called senior missionaries “irreplaceable,” and that “if you are tempted to think you’re not needed, let me reassure you that you are. ... Senior couples are often a literal answer to the prayers of bishops and branch presidents.” Full-time senior missionaries are greatly needed, yet many are not aware of an almost endless amount of opportunities available for Senior Service Missionaries. Who is eligible? Men and women age 26 and older — single or married, retired or still working — are eligible to serve in assignments that align with their schedules, abilities and spiritual gifts. Many serve just eight hours a week; others, like Elder Gary Futral and Sister Nancy Futral of Acworth, Georgia, serve up to 30 or 40. If you are prompted, or feeling called, reach out to your Bishop or local leaders to learn more. Many are called, but relatively few are serving, let’s change that. Please share your call to serve! #SeniorMissionary #SeniorServiceMission #SaintsOnX #LDX
