The Esports Situation in Algeria: Algeria was one of the first Arab countries to hold esports tournaments. The first tournament held there was a Counter-Strike tournament in 2003. The government organization in charge of esports logistics has over 100 well-equipped PCs. There are some sponsors that are open to support the serious projects there. Despite this, the esports scene in Algeria has not developed at all. The situation remains the same as it was in 2018 if it's not getting worse. Algeria is represented by zero organizations in the Arabian League (LOL). I talked to several people active in the Algerian scene, and a recurring name in every scam, sabotage, and bad move is Koussaila. He has scammed people and organizations out of a total of over $45,000. He was previously arrested and banned from any esports activities in Algeria. Surprisingly, Koussaila is now the vice president of the algerian Esports committee (his cousin is the president). Koussaila was behind the sabotage of a tournament recently that was supposed to be held in Algeria last March. He was also involved in Overmind losing their Arabian League spot. People like Koussaila benefit from the lack of development in the Algerian esports scene, allowing them to scam in the shadows without being noticed.
