Which is EXACTLY what #onted said the second that this was announced. We went on strike to reduce class sizes and eliminate these courses. We ended up "agreeing" with a reduction in the proposed increase in class size and total courses taken online WITH an opt out option
Frank Domenic@TheFrankDomenic

The Ford Government made e-learning courses mandatory to graduate, stating it would expand student choice. We're now seeing its being used to avoid taking mandatory courses in person and to boost grades for university applications. #ontario #onpoli #onted #ontarioschools

In Minister Calandra’s December letter to parents, “Our students deserve better results and stronger outcomes, especially in reading, writing and math.” and “Our responsibility is to do everything possible to boost student achievement.” Today, he canceled TCDSB reading programs!

The first ring of the bell will be at a different time for students at several Catholic elementary schools next fall - one of several changes, including cuts to language and reading programs, recently announced. toronto.citynews.ca/2026/03/27/tcd…

Curious how many high schools in #PDSB were assigned e-learning sections by the Ministry... Care to share if yours was? This'll give students a FALSE opportunity to opt-out, & goes against @OSSTFD19's Collective Agreement by forcing teachers into jobs they didn't apply for.

@TeachRandom @JBradshaw01 All it takes is one event to smear an entire profession whether it's cops or teachers. The Minister needed a strong response.

@lilwaynekennedy @JBradshaw01 We are upset with those teachers and are glad they've been fired, but that doesn't mean we all need to be reprimanded. It's similar to keeping the whole class in for recess because one or two students do something inappropriate. We don't practice collective punishment.

@TeachRandom @JBradshaw01 I'm not a teacher but if I was a teacher I would be quite upset at those two teachers for setting back trust with black parents and students. Ministry has done a lot working towards equity and anti black racism, from destreaming to N word policies and those two set it back.

Don't let @PaulCalandra fool you - this year's education budget does not keep up with rising inflation and is effectively yet another #onted budget cut.

@Beaf333 @JBradshaw01 And there doesn't seem to be any bias whatsoever in the cases that were selected to be brought forward by the CAEF at all.

🚨 What I don’t understand is why Doug Ford and Paul Calandra are already threatening teachers and students across Ontario over graduation speeches that haven’t even happened yet. They’re warning valedictorians and teachers: watch what you say, or we’ll invoke the Education Act. Students can’t use their voices at their own graduation? Meanwhile, police officers are under investigation and Ford’s entire caucus is silent. Crickets. Whose side is he on? Clearly not the kids. Clearly not education. This is not leadership it’s control. Share if you’re done with politicians muzzling our students.
Bev 🇨🇦@Garnet_2203

Ontario Education Minister Paul Calandra is refusing to apologize for banning political views at graduation ceremonies. No climate justice. No Indigenous rights. No anti-racism. Just “celebrate” in silence while he polices what our kids can hear. This isn’t neutrality it’s censorship. Graduations belong to students, not Doug Ford’s government.

We stand in #solidarity with the 331 PDSB teachers who have been declared Surplus to Region and laid off for the next school year, and the 52 Educational Assistants whose contracts are being impacted as a result of a mid-year EA reorganization. @ETFOPeel @ETFOeducators #OnEd

@JBradshaw01 @TeachRandom #1 it's about the teachers fired for using the N word. #2 it's about the school grad that was planning on "decolonizing" grad. That's it. That's what it's about.

PSA for @PaulCalandra: Teachers have professionalism which is why your diabolical speech wasn’t published as you seem to want. Pieces of it have been shared, and teachers have been responding to it and your letter with anger and disbelief. YOU are not respected.

Across the province this Saturday, March 28 there are ‘Fight Ford’ protests planned in dozens of Ontario communities. One organizer said, rallies are happening because residents are “tired of his policies that ignore the input of experts and thousands of diverse citizens.” Locations are below. #onpoli insidehalton.com/news/fight-for… via @InsideHalton
