@SawyerMerritt Couldn't SpaceX make an offer to buy Eutelsat for 6 - 8 billion €? And thus get access to this spectrum?
English

Non-European satellite operators such as SpaceX and Amazon's low-earth-orbit business can bid for mobile satellite spectrum, the European Commission said on Wednesday, leaving the door open to U.S. companies.
Two thirds of the available spectrum will be divided equally between EU and non-EU operators for commercial use, the EU executive said.

I read all 277 pages of SpaceX's IPO filing so you don't have to. Losses up 700%. Revenue decelerating. 107x price-to-sales multiple. It's a trainwreck. Full breakdown below 👇

Sci-fi fans think about this great scene when they see Starship shield holding

Elon Musk@elonmusk
@Mookafish No burn-throughs. Shield held.

@aikisteve @Tesla Steve,
You should volunteer to add to those testing kilometers in Belgium. You have the car, the experience and you can stream it on YouTube in the meantime.
Tesla Belgium has some flexi-job vacancy open? 😎

Apparently, there are multiple drivers per car for testing purposes, allowing @Tesla to clock in more hours per day. They are doing whatever they can to get this done and to get FSD approved 😍 In the meantime, there are already 20 million km driven on FSD supervised since approval. This is scaling exponentially 📈
Stijn (Supervised)@TheDailyXs
@dm_jns @teslawelt Especially if you can drive each car with multiple people. In theory, this can be done in a few days only.

Isn't the counterargument to be made with the Tesla analogy: Tesla launched EVs with no real competition and strong pricing power. New entrants now face a dominant low-cost giant immediately, causing huge cash burn from day one. So anyone who tries to compete with SpaceX will not find the customers who are willing to pay more for a less reliable service. So R&D/Capex could be matched, the market is now different when SpaceX started.
Your famous FCF chart of EV makers could be applied to this sector also?
English

After reviewing SpaceX's S1 filing we can definitively say that SpaceX's lifetime investment (Capex+R&D) in space technologies amounts to $20 billion to $25 billion. In other words, with the benefit of 2026/2027 technology, a follower should be able to replicate SpaceX's current launch capability, including Starship, for the same or less investment.
Also, the many publicly available technical details and SpaceX design choices should meaningfully cut down trial/error cost of any follower.

LIDAR has almost nothing to do with this issue. This is a deep learning problem.

Waymo has paused service in two cities because its robotaxis are driving into floods. They are recalling nearly 4,000 self driving vehicles over concerns they may not properly stop for flooded roadways. LiDAR clearly isn’t working.
