@Jonathan_Witt @grok Happened to a friend. @grok broadly correct but doesn't include heli lift and possibly a medi jet to an international airport depending where you are. The costs quoted are for a public hospital, most trauma facilities in the Alps are private. His cost circa €90k

@grok What would the costs be if a non EU resident went to Italy without any medical insurance and shattered their tibia while skiing? Assume 2 weeks of hospitalization including 3 surgeries and external fixation.
Matteo Bassetti@ProfMBassetti

@TimRudd11 @DanNeidle Why would a 4 way split of £46m be valued at £10m less than the total amount?

I get that “reform capital gains tax now” isn’t a great slogan, but in the end, evidence matters. We’re not getting a wealth tax under this, or any conceivable, government. For good reasons. The Left should focus on effective and achievable tax policy: pro equity and pro growth
Richard Burgon MP@RichardBurgon

Today I handed in my petition for a wealth tax, backed by over 80,000 people, to Downing Street. The campaign for a wealth tax is growing from strength to strength. Together, we will win this!

@DanNeidle Does it not also follow that family’s will disperse hard to value moveable assets between themselves to minimise wealth tax liability?

@mhmck I apologise if this sounds like a stupid question, I don't know the geography and have no idea about military strategy but could they turn south behind the Russian border to encircle the occupied eastern Ukraine?

Political implications come later. For now, consider the military goals of the Kursk operation: –the russian fascist invaders are weakest in Kursk region; always attack the enemy where he's weakest –a war of manœuvre can be fought, which is better for Ukraine than trench warfare

Why wo'nt @British_Airways deal with my claim 01396903? They sold me a business class ticket London - San Francisco, cancelled it, and then sent me via New York with the New York-San Fran leg with American and not in business class. BA now say its AA's problem. AA say its BA's.

@dcsandbrook @KapteinCaptain @TheRestHistory A long series on SA history would be amazing but I know a lot to ask for. Would be fascinating. Dutch East India company, Natal, Boer War, Rhodesia great trek, diamonds, apartheid, Mandela and ends with a revolutionary / freedom party losing power...a rare thing in Africa.

Hello @TheRestHistory , I was wondering whether you may be willing to do an episode on the Anglo-Boer wars? It is quite niche, but a very interesting war that has had limited coverage in the digital era. I love your podcasts, keep it up.

@DawieScholtz Given ANC + EEF is just less than 50% that would be one less coalition option available.

I’m told Dubai had 400 votes by 10AM, with another 400 or so in the queue by my casual count. 800/3500 (23% turnout) by 10 AM. Headed for 70%+.

For the first time yesterday, on the SRF's lowest national turnout model (56%), the ANC's margin of error breached the 50% line.

@Edrich92811216 @Myviewsmyown @Skilliepieterse I think it'll be an ANC minority govt with the DA negotiating and getting its key demands over devolution, the speaker & committees in return for agreeing to support Cyril in votes of no confidence and the finance bill. Known as confidence and supply in other countries.

@Myviewsmyown @Skilliepieterse I think the ANC would much rather work with DA than EFF. They don’t have the same electorate, so wouldn’t lose too many votes to the DA, whereas the EFF is taking vites from the ANC at every election.
