Not enough can be said about my friends and incredible entrepreneurs @avarma and @sundeep, twin giants of tech across Canada and the US, but I’ll try.
I first met them in 2009 while building Buzzd in NYC, while they were pioneering mobile apps at Xtreme Labs. Since then, their journey has been nothing short of remarkable, including:
Xtreme Labs → acquired by Pivotal Labs
Autonomic → acquired by Ford in just 11 months (<$400M)
Definitive → acquired by @GroqInc (recently valued at $6.9B)
@withmantle → an AI-native Carta disruptor, raised $10M
But beyond the exits and headlines, their greatest legacy is the families they’ve built and the countless people they’ve lifted along the way.
Last night we celebrated Amar’s 50th. In a room of 100+, every single person had a story of how Amar and Sunny had changed their lives—as teammates, founders, investors, or simply as friends.
I’ve never been in a room quite like that, and I felt truly lucky to be there.
Happy birthday, Amar—and thank you both for building not just epic companies, but epic communities that continue to raise all of us. 🚀

Line 1 fully closed up now (st Clair to the other side) just during late morning rush. Two thoughts:
First, I want a better warning or refund mechanism to hold the TTC accountable to this! Why do I find out about this terrible level of service after I pay!?
Secondly, I’m seeing a lot more service degradation during August. Im speculating here and I’m all for vacations but essential service has got to continue. Have we become so life-over-work here in Toronto that it negatively impacts the lives of others!!?
