Football, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey. None of these sports tolerate players rolling around acting for the camera. Baseball players get hit with 100Mph fastballs and jog it off when they take their base. NBA players dive for it and land on hardwood courts and have to get right back up and switch direction.

1. You’re so tough you can’t do sports without being covered head to toe in pads, helmets and gloves.
2. Chaos and unpredictability is more fun than playbooks and a whistle every seconds.
3. Constant scoring devalues scoring. If one goal can win a match you get tension.

Okay, since you asked, here’s my American opinion. Soccer will never be as popular in America as football for 3 reasons: 1. The Fake Injuries Players are incentivized to flop because the other team is more likely to get a penalty. In football, it is the opposite. If a player has a real injury, play toughs it out and plays through it, it is seen as heroic. Americans like toughness and grit. 2. Chance Goals Many goals are scored by chance as opposed to skill. The chaos at the net when the ball is near is remarkable. Defenders blocking the goalie’s line of sight. The ball bouncing and ricocheting off of random body parts often determines if the ball goes in the net or out of bounds. In football, there are some elements of chance, but because players are allowed to use their hands, the points are primarily scored based on skill. Less is left to chance. Americans like control. 3. Low Scoring In football, it is still challenging to score, but it happens much more often. Also, every play has a chance for gratification and excitement: a first down, a big catch, a big hit, a sack, an interception, etc American like constant excitement.

@HistoryWJacob Football people fake injuries for an extra timeout at ends of game. Most "chance goals" are because one team is putting lots of pressure on the other team and there isn't that many of them. So that point we really uneducated about soccer.

Soccer will never be as popular in America as football for 3 reasons:

It’s a pretty simple solution: don’t force players to wear Pride-themed uniforms.
People have different beliefs, whether religious, political, or personal. Respect works both ways. Let players compete, let teams host their events, and don’t require anyone to endorse a message they don’t personally agree with.

Baseball is my favorite sport, so hopefully that changes in the future. Cricket is just not popular in the Americas
