updating to "probably (70%) rescued and they're trying to keep it under wraps which is why people keep spreading the story on personal accounts but there's no official confirmation in either direction"

I dont even know how you fix twitter at this point, there is so much fake news and AI vids everywhere now. The comments on every post are littered with "grok is this true". It's a shame bc this was the best news source anywhere and now it's one thing AI ruined.

Wait till the rest of the world hears that Australians close majority of their stores at 5pm and you can only get stuff done on Thursday cos of ‘late night shopping’

@JeremiahDJohns Super handy with family and friends. Some people not into it though, clearly.

I've never understood the whole 'share your location' thing and it has me worried I'm turning into Old Man Yelling At Clouds Neither I nor my wife have ever shared location (with anyone). I didn't even know it was a thing people did. Seems bizarre, but apparently is normal?
mads campbell@martyrdison

i once dated someone and we got into a playful argument about why they wouldn’t share location “i’m a very private person, this feels like it’s moving too fast, that’s a big step” months later, after it didn’t work out, we were friends and i said “ok i need your location for logistics” he admitted the real reason he wouldn’t share it was because he never left the house and didn’t want anyone to see

There's a passage in Jane Austen's Emma about how our heroine makes incredibly thoughtful lists of books she's going to read - chosen with great care, intelligence and judgment - and then never reads them. Sometimes I see people on this app and think of that passage.

Imagine if the soldier was rescued many hours ago but US Army isn't announcing it yet so that they can keep bringing clueless IRGC terrorists up on the mountain to massacre them like rats in a big trap.

@SurrealistShip I read this as Cowork and assumed you were grappling with how to price tokens 🤦‍♂️

Coworker is having a real dilemma. $1 for the tooth fairy seems too low, $5 seems way too high. What's a parent to do these days?

@vladgeorgescu In a parallel dimension, I dropped by newly bought iPhone onto my newly bought iPad, shattered the iPad screen but had to pay full price for the replacement. Somehow I still remained an Apple fanboi 🤷‍♂️

16 years ago I waited in a long line outside the apple store to buy the first ipad. I was so excited to walk home with it! The very next morning I dropped it on the bathroom floor and cracked the screen. And I don’t mean a tiny crack. It was completely wrecked. There was no apple care back then. I wasn’t earning that much. I was devastated. I went back to the apple store to see if they can replace the screen and how much it would cost. I was afraid the only solution was to buy a new one. “Hi how can I help you?” “I’m a dumbass” and showed him the cracked screen. “Oh man. Let me see what I can do.” He took my cracked ipad somewhere in the back. About ten minutes later he came back. He was holding a box. “Be more careful next time.” He handed me a brand new ipad. For free. I couldn’t believe it. He didn’t have to do that. He could’ve just said “sorry nothing we can do” but instead he went and persuaded his boss to do a good deed for a complete stranger. I don’t think stuff like this happens anymore. But 16 years ago, that interaction with an apple store employee left a profound mark on me.

We had a spare room at the back of our place doing absolutely nothing for years I asked Gemini what to do with it and implemented the suggestions. I don’t love everything about the room (open to changes!) but now we use the room every day.

I asked gemini to give my basement a glow up and then went out and bought all the actual furniture. First is the nano banana mockup; second is the actual room as it looks today; third is the original photo of the room that nano banana was working off of.
