@fnoschese @msittig makes an interesting point: we must guard against "wishful measurement" :) I still advocate plotting ASAP, though, for all the reasons you describe!

Previously, groups would graph after collecting data and returning lab equipment. Then a group may realize (or not!) that something is amiss and it’s too late to recollect data. This year, students (and I) can see right away if something is awry or if there are data gaps.

Most positive change I’ve made this year: Having students graph data as the collect it. (See @gregcjacobs’s post jacobsphysics.blogspot.com/2014/11/why-i-…) We are 1:1 laptops and use @gnuphysics’s nPlot website, which can save data locally w/o an account! noragulfa.com/nPlot/ #iteachphysics
