.@PalmerLuckey says the way to recruit really sharp people working in tech is to tell them: "The thing you are working on does not really matter." "You’re making a ton of money, but you’re optimizing buttons and ad spend for massive platforms and stuff." "Is that what you want to do with your life?" — @contrary's @kwharrison13

@Jason AI and robots will replace all jobs. Working will be optional, like growing your own vegetables, instead of buying them from the store.

$HOOD » @GrousARK calling Robinhood Gold the best subscription money can buy: “It’s not just the best financial services subscription money can buy. I think it is, point blank period, the best subscription service money can buy because of the value prop and how much you’ve packaged into it. Not many subscription services pay you back, which is what [Robinhood] Gold does.”

Robinhood stock falls 9% after reporting weaker-than-expected earnings.

.@Friedberg on the broken promises of college, jobs, and homeownership in the American Dream: “At some point you can only promise so much. There’s a system where everyone had this sort of expectation setting that was made: everyone gets a home. That’s the American Dream. Everyone goes to college and then they get a job. Some of those things may not necessarily be the right things from a free market perspective. In which case you’re making these promises and people feel like the promises aren’t being delivered, they’re not being met, and that’s all they care about and all that they want. In the West, we have that problem right now. And so there are a lot of these things that we’ve set expectations around. If you go to college, you get a good degree. No matter how much it costs, you will have a good job and you’ll be able to buy a home and live a good life. And that’s not true anymore. These are the sorts of things that I think make us more fearful of the changes ahead.” via @ChrisWillx

.@Friedberg on freedom from labor as the real measure of prosperity: “We’re all vacationing in Hawaii working 10 hours a week. That’s where things go. This is why I mentioned the hundred hours. You go from 100 to 60 to 40 to 30. In France, they have a law—it’s like 30... That’s one of the measures of prosperity: how much do you have to work to be able to live a good life? And so if you can take more time with your family and more time to explore your personal interests and you don’t have to do labor, whether it’s on a computer or in a field, that’s a good way to think about are we all prospering? Are we being given freedom to do more things rather than being caged into doing the things we don’t want to do.” via @ChrisWillx
