@greenman1714 I think it is because the rune and the ordinal are in the same UTXO and ME doesn’t like it. Theoretically it’s trivial to separate them, but it isn’t a use case that the wallets have designed around.

@cbspears @TO I also love Zed and he’s brought some awesome algorithms and interesting concepts to life on Bitcoin. I need to go back and read all the posts for this argument, but I would love to get together and help document some of those early developments/experiments/etc.

I like Zed and it's not fair to call his project low effort -- he's been doing some really cool stuff for a long time now and is actually one of my favorite not well recognized creators. I think you both need to take a deep breath and sunset this disagreement, I don't want to oversimplify but would consider this more of a misunderstanding than maliciousness. To try and spin this into something productive, I think I might try to get @lifofifo @Elocremarc @ZedZeroth and @TO (maybe others like @mutabletrees and @veryordinally) to help me put together a first-person account + timeline on "How Ordinals Got Recursion" because there is a lot of interesting stuff that I want to preserve about how the protocol came to look in its present form. I think it could be useful to document for reference as people make protocol decisions in the future, so that we can do better.

I wasn’t planning to respond to this at first because the claims seemed absurd, and it felt like an obvious attempt to ride the wave of hype around Pizza Pets. I didn’t want to "take the bait" and give it any unnecessary attention. But since I’ve noticed more people being misled by the claims, I wanted to set the record straight: 1. The first time I came across this person was about a week ago. After looking into their project, I can confidently say it’s not an on-chain game or a digital pet. It’s an interactive inscription with the same character repeated for every ordinal, and you can add child inscriptions to make it perform a limited number of actions. Comparing their project to Pizza Pets is like comparing a horse to a car—they’re fundamentally different. Also, the suggestion that the tech we added to the Ordinals Protocol was merely a "performance improvement" just shows a misunderstanding of what we’re doing. Pizza Pets is not technically feasible without this upgrade and the fact his projects don't need it tells you everything you need to know. 2. The claim that he invented the idea of using parent-child to modify inscriptions aka "modscriptions" is 100% false. This idea has been widely discussed for over a year. He came up with this idea in March but the same thing is in our GitBook we published in January. We talked about it on The Ordinal Show with folks like Eloc from Blob, Danny from OCM, and others, multiple times before that. For someone to take credit for inventing an idea shared by so many people, that's been around for so long before his projects, frankly, makes all of his claims and intentions highly suspicious. 3. His new project just launched a few weeks ago, while we inscribed the Pizza Pets artwork and manifesto describing the entire game back in May—over 200 days ago. To me, it looks like an attempt to front-run Pizza Pets with a low-effort project to claim credit and gain visibility. I generally avoid engaging with things like this because I don’t get the sense this person has good intentions. It feels like an effort to capitalize on the buzz around Pizza Pets to promote their own work. Understandably, as excitement builds, FUD and false claims will tend to surface. Ultimately, I don’t know this person and hope I’m wrong about his intentions—that this is simply a misunderstanding on his end. After our launch, I’d be happy to explain why his project is different and why I don’t consider it an on-chain game or a digital pet. You’ll all see for yourselves what Pizza Pets is about soon!
