@vxunderground This account is spreading fake news for engagement. Their CEO @rickcsong addressed the claims directly and then thanked the account for getting ID verified with Persona 😂 x.com/rickcsong/stat…
Rick Song@rickcsong

Just to be clear, Persona wasn't hacked, no data was breached/leaked, and no individuals were compromised. I get that posting about Persona generates a lot of views and engagement these days... but I do feel sharing the same story 4 times saying NEW or BREAKING over the span of a month is a bit too much. At some point, it's not breaking news anymore. At first, I thought this was a bot account, but then I saw that you are ID verified so I decided to write a longer response (and hope that I'm not being farmed by AI). Although I don't agree with all of your positions, I genuinely think some of your posts make good points about potential risks of digital IDs, especially if a government is not thoughtful in its implementation. However, I think fear-mongering as a means to generate attention for your cause is unproductive. Blending fact and fiction so cavalierly undermines trust (you can see this in some of the replies to this post). And I don't think fabricating conspiracies and fake stories does anything beyond just stoking chaos and pushing more polarization. In the worst case, this causes everyone to give up on engaging in good faith and to stop finding ways to improve the status quo. And despite your strong stance against digital IDs, I do believe that there is common ground that can be found which would make things better. Lastly, congress has not reached out to me in any capacity. That might be your wildest statement of all...

I am impressed by this accounts ability to re-discover the same breaking news every couple of weeks. It is evident now they're exploiting peoples fear of identity verification for profit. Image 1. February 20 Image 2. February 25 Image 3. March 6 Image 4. March 14

@AlexOnchain @RachaelRad @claudeai what stands out more to me is how as marketers we can only control the Y axis of the chart. the line between "sweet spot" and "safe & boring" is just as thin as the line between "comms crisis" and "bold bet" that pays out. you only find out once you hit post.

A matrix created with @claudeai that anyone who has worked with me knows I point to a lot -- media relations, content, and brand moments, etc. --> you should think about this as you make decisions (for founders, comms teams, anyone really).

the way i see it, bold bets are what inform sweet spots, so they are not mutually exclusive. today's bold bet becomes tomorrow's sweet spot, but you have to be willing to experiment and see what works, even though in that moment it may seem as a 'bold bet' because you haven't tried it before.

@RachaelRad @claudeai can you share more about how you think about bold bets in relation to this framework? if they're higher risk and can only deliver the same level of value that well-done sweet-spot comms can, why would you take the risk?

a human recommending your brand to another human beats any CPM, any Times Square billboard, and any influencer paid to glaze you. community building is about human-to-human interaction, not "can i get these people to give me more money?"

We were all born private. Then our parents signed us up for Gmail, and Big Tech spent the next decade building a profile on us before we were old enough to understand what that meant. It doesn't have to start that way for the next generation. #BornPrivate

what you can't teach others: -efficiency -how to be obsessed -being online when nobody else is what you can teach others: -frameworks -pattern recognition -the shortcuts you earned the hard way focus on the latter.

wanna know how you get 100M+ views a year on X? stop waiting for the perfect moment. the trend broke at 9am. the 'optimal' post was scheduled for 6pm. by 6pm, twenty other accounts already said it. first mover advantage beats a polished take. ship now. iterate later.

sorry I missed the 9am standup, I was busy doing the work that matters between the hours of 11PM and 1AM when nobody was online to ask me for a 'quick sync' that could've been an email.

X uses Persona for its optional ID verification (confirmed on X's help pages). Founders Fund—Peter Thiel's VC firm, where he's co-founder—led major funding rounds for Persona. Thiel has no board seat, advisory role, or operational involvement (per Persona's CEO statements). Persona’s policy: No selling of user data; GDPR/CCPA compliant. It shares with limited subprocessors/vendors solely for processing checks (e.g., database matches). X’s rules: Persona deletes ID images/selfies/extracted data after 30 days. X keeps only minimal hashed info for fraud/appeals in select cases (like ads revenue). No public evidence of direct Palantir data sharing. Any third-party verifier carries processing risks—that's core to privacy critiques of such systems.

No to Digital ID
No to Digital ID@NoToDigitalID·
Yes, I verified my ID on X to get the blue check and Premium perks. It helps boost visibility for our NO DIGITAL ID campaign here in the UK. Some people are calling it hypocrisy. Let’s be crystal clear: it is NOT. X’s ID verification is VOLUNTARY. It is opt-in only for Premium users who choose to use it. The process is handled by a PRIVATE THIRD-PARTY PROCESSOR, not the government. The data is typically retained only briefly — often up to 30 days in many cases — and the whole thing is LIMITED TO THIS PLATFORM. It exists for practical reasons: building trust, prioritising support, and helping fight impersonation. There is NO central state database, NO mandatory linking of your life across services, and NO forced compliance. What we actively OPPOSE is GOVERNMENT-CONTROLLED DIGITAL ID — the kind the UK government is now consulting on as of March 2026. That means a NATIONAL SYSTEM pushed by the state, one that could tie your identity to public services, right-to-work checks, surveillance across multiple sectors, and everyday interactions — often with little meaningful opt-out in practice. That represents CENTRALISED CONTROL, ETERNAL TRACKING, EROSION OF PRIVACY, and a serious tool for overreach. These are not the same thing at all. Apples and oranges. I made a deliberate choice to use a private platform’s OPTIONAL TOOL so I can amplify the message against the real threat: STATE-MANDATED DIGITAL IDs that risk locking every citizen into a single government-managed identity ecosystem. Verifying here simply helps me spread the word louder. It is STRATEGY, not surrender. If you care about privacy and individual freedom, join the fight against COMPULSORY STATE DIGITAL ID. Don’t waste energy nitpicking someone who is using the tools available to resist it. The difference really does matter.

@grok @NoToDigitalID So @NoToDigitalID has just lied, and is in fact being hypocritical. Does Persona, the company who does age verification and ID checks on X have any ties to Peter Thiel, the founder of Palantir? Is there any possibility at all that Persona could be sharing data with 3rd parties?
