READ: “Ireland shows what happens when elites, bureaucracies, and ideology override national identity.” In my St. Patrick’s Day piece for ⁦@realDailyWire⁩, I warn that Americans can look to Ireland to see what lies ahead if the Left regains power. dailywire.com/news/ireland-i…

@brianrknight I think I’ve seen a few @TheBabylonBee sketches about 2A through the lens of a pink-haired liberal. I assume this is the sort of stuff you’re looking for?

Has any conservative group done serious work on what the Bill of Rights would look like if the scope and aim was the same as the Framers’ but written to reflect modern context? Claude says no. If not, it would be a worthy intellectual exercise.

One of the features of the debate within Fianna Fáil is how vague it all is. All stuff like “we need to listen more” But if Micheál Martin said “Right: what actual policy changes?” Do you think he’d get anything more than “We need to cut taxes and spend more”?

@jasonomahony Absolutely agree. Besides, many people who want Martin gone agree with Sinn Féin on even less!

One problem in Irish politics is our obsession with personality over structure. We rarely question how we do things, just who is doing them. The current big issue is how do we get rid of Micheál which is now an end in itself. No one can tell you how that will fix anything.

@kieransopinion Define “far right” for me, because it seems that everyone in Ireland (left and so-called right) subscribes to a Gramscian view of classes. And in case you don’t know, Gramsci was a communist.

I see nuance has gone over this fucking clowns head again. *Some* far right actors were parading around with coffins screaming Ireland is Full and another crowd of dipshits had 'Ireland for the Irish' banners. Clear far right tropes. Not about fuel with that *segment*
Aisling Considine@AislingAon

Shameful headline. Making out like the protesters are "fAr RiGhT!" or are simpletons who are being manipulated. These are ordinary Irish people who've been pushed to the brink by an incompetent, corrupt government. Let this be the death knell of the "far right" boogeyman. Next time you hear: " Far right! " read: " Ordinary people treated like 2nd class citizens in their own country standing up for their rights "

Why should carbon taxes even exist? Energy is an inelastic product meaning it will be used regardless of price. If the goal is to reduce consumption, then it's pointless. If the goal is to raise revenue, the State already has a surplus so why bother?

@LeoVaradkar Next week I’ll have a column that argues in favor of chopping off my right leg in order to improve my posture. It will make more sense than this.

In my column today, I set out why financial support for Ukraine is 100% in our own self-interest. If Putin wins there'll be more refugees, more wars and price shocks. I also set out why the carbon tax and climate action can free the next generation from the roller coaster of fossil fuel prices we've had to deal with since the 1970's

My takes on the League of Ireland are even worse 😲
Roger Berkeley@roger_berkeley

@IComestible “Bad takes on international affairs” is correct. Only someone without the foggiest about political values could think that Ireland has anything but a left-dominated political culture.

It's not so much that Millennial and Gen X women consciously choose careers over marriage. It's that the choices they make (and are encouraged to make) make marriage less likely. Case in point: moving to D.C., where the men are sociopaths or homosexuals or both.
Beverly Hallberg@BeverlyHallberg

I’m 46 and have worked in DC for 26 years. During that time, I’ve met and befriended many women in high-level careers. Not one has ever told me she chose her career over marriage. In fact, all of them were trying to find a husband. The idea that Millennial or Gen X women broadly chose careers over marriage—at least anecdotally—just isn’t true.

@EwanMacKenna Most Europeans pay more in tax on fuel than Americans pay in total. Perhaps Europe is not a great comparison when arguing a point about unnecessarily prohibitive taxes!

This won't be popular but Irish taxes on fuel aren't out of line with many EU countries. You can disagree with the amount, sure, I do, but we aren't some crazy outlier.

The prices shot up in Ireland before the supply was affected. Prices increased by 67% between February and March despite their being a 90 day strategic reserve that should not have run dry until at least the end of May. Compare that with the US where prices have only increased by about 40% in the same time.

No debate in Ireland about whether universal taxpayer-funded (they're not free) school meals are a good idea...just a few skirmishes about the (generally low) quality of the food. The big picture is never debated in Ireland - just the edges.

The U.S. Supreme Court delivered a huge victory for free speech last week. But don't forget what happened to Päivi Räsänen at the Supreme Court of Finland just five days earlier. @ADFLegal and @ADFIntl continue working to root out censorship on both sides of the Atlantic. ADF Senior Counsel, @AH_Gaiser, explains.

@roger_berkeley @WiwidPr0vess @CatholicArena @CarriePrejean1 Zionism is not theology; it is not a religion. It is a political movement like MAGA disguised in religion to MIGA. They corrupted many good Christians with their fake Sofield bible. You should care if you are Catholic. Many souls are at risk in an antiChrist agenda of zionism.

BREAKING 🇺🇸 Bishop Robert Barron has REJECTED criticisms of his appearance on the Ben Shapiro show: 'I feel obligated to respond to this grossly unfair attack on my character. I never discussed the morality of the Iran war with Ben Shapiro. He asked me to comment on the Pope's remarks to the effect that all those who wage war have "blood on their hands." I simply made the distinction, completely consistent with Catholic social teaching, between just and unjust wars and suggested that the Pope meant that those who wage unjust wars are to be condemned morally'
