So grateful to Shopify for the Build Award. None of this even feels real! And even more incredible was the time I got to spend with amazing people this week. @ShopDevAlliance is a real community where lifelong relationships are being formed. I get to learn, build, and grow with some of the best there is. Grateful to Shopify for hosting an annual in-person event that gives us all the perfect excuse to meet in real life. None of this is possible without Shopify and the amazing people that make up the developer community. It’s a team effort. Culture and community are crafted but the right people still have to show up. And it’s nothing short of amazing when they do.

I had someone recently ask me about joining @ShopDevAlliance and whether or not it was "worth" it because of some of the benefits like the resources. They wanted to make sure it'd be a good investment for them if their application was approved. Very quickly, I said no. They were really confused that I was very quick to answer that and asked about why I was so sure even if it was something on the website. In my mind, the way I talk and think about SDA, is that it will only ever be valuable to the people that value community. Everything else is just a nicety or a thing that happens as a result of the community. But if you're trying to figure out if SDA in particular is worth it then I would probably honestly say no. I can't convince nor would I try to urge anyone that community is important. If you don't realize that for yourself, then you will not see the value.

It’s wild how the Language Wars completely shifted. 2014: "PHP is dead, use Ruby!" 2018: "React is king. Don’t even bother with Vue." 2021: "Yeah Python is fine, but the big boys use Rust." 2026: "Claude is so over, Codex is the GOAT now!” I guess it’s great we stopped arguing over syntax but sort of weird we’re picking who has the best “vibes.”

Really looking forward to chatting with Jordan today! One of the most helpful people in the @ShopifyDevs ecosystem. He literally won an award for it 🚀

I've been playing around with Youtube shorts because I don't listen to many full podcasts. Also, sometimes short nuggets give the best insights. "Build customer experiences for the customer" seems very simple, but it's exactly how @PrakharS96 looks at things and he explains it so well here. youtube.com/shorts/JsQfjnx…

@MurmeltierS @atleeclark Yeah I initially panicked when I saw that and then saw the grouped values so started checking storefronts. Much less coverage on grouped values thankfully but still. Late notice isn’t great. Better than never lol but sheesh.

@TRPage_dev @atleeclark it’s worded a bit confusing - it only affects „grouped“ filter options within Search & Discovery - still tho :/

re: "partner communications" @atleeclark it feels so weird seeing changes like that thrown into the changelog with this "do or die" mentality and no time to prepare ever wondered who has to calm merchants after these kind of changes - its not shopify support ;)

Also, while it's true I do love the CLI - it would be great if this could be fixed 🙏 "fix" is just to pull all the extra junk out of the URL but pretty annoying to have to do it every time.

Always a huge win when the other dev team wasn't able to get it done but I was able to get it solved within the same week I get permission to work on something for a client. That's not because I'm amazing, but because an individual who gets to focus on one thing instead of 40+ can be way more effective. Fighting for focus is harder than ever at the level of shipping we're supposed to be doing with AI, but it still makes a huge difference. Also, huge shoutout to the @ShopifyDevs team for all the amazing work that's been done on the CLI and developer tools we have access to now. I had to dabble in another related space momentarily and it was absolutely abysmal in comparison.
