I never understood the purpose of this doctrine. Obviously Mary was a virgin when she had Jesus, but why must she remain perpetually so? Especially when the Bible talks about Jesus’s brothers. She was married to Joseph and sex within marriage is good, not sinful.

@Caripka @JennMGreenberg She was betrothed. Not unmarried. Research ancient Jewish customs. Betrothal was the first stage of marriage. She was not unwed.

@JennMGreenberg It’s silly. I don’t believe she was a virgin when she had Jesus either. The story of an unwed woman giving birth to the savior was whitewashed by the judgey men who wrote about it later.

I'm old enough to remember when Tebow first blew up at Florida. Always thought he had to have been hiding some big secret bc there's just no way anybody is really that good of a person.
20 years later he is the only guy I can think of who was built up by the media to be a saint and has actually lived up to it. Also has a higher playoff passer rating than Tom Brady.
