Most people don’t realise where the £180 million actually went at the A303 Stonehenge tunnel project.
It wasn’t construction.
It was years of:
• Environmental impact assessments
• Heritage & archaeological studies
• Legal challenges and consultations
• Design, engineering and traffic modelling
• Public inquiries and revisions
All before a single shovel hit the ground.
This is the real problem in Britain:
We don’t just waste money, we build systems that guarantee it.

@Imaginaryperso_ @jared_vennett__ @NicholasTyrone no im saying mmt has created the environment where......blah and not keynsian economics. keynes talked about smoothing economic cycles by injecting state capital at periods of economic downturns and then paying it back over the period of growth, not just perpetual budget deficits

@xeode @jared_vennett__ @NicholasTyrone No, Im saying keynesian economics has created the environment where we've accrued 30 trillion in debt and now paying the interest year on year is more than the defense budget and increasinly exponentially.
Its unsustainable, and MMT is the only stupid solution keynesians have.

@avidseries it's like conversation with groups of other people, which i take it you're not a fan of for similar reasons? 🤣 or do you just start talking about something you're interested in if the conversation drifts to something else or what? you have to find the people entertaining too...

I've never listened to a podcast for more than 3 or 4 minutes. I don't have the patience to listen to people ramble on while I wait for them to talk about something I might be interested in. I'm not sure there's ever been a less efficient way to transmit information.

Looked at the draw entry. It wants name and post code (obviously) but also asks who you voted for last time and who you intend to vote for next time.
This is a data harvesting exercise so they can gain information on which areas to best target.

The SLR camera is design perfection. Look through the same lens which will be used for the photo, body ergonomically designed to minimise shake, full control over every variable. So sad that to many people 'Camera' is just an app on a phone which feels horrible in comparison.

This is surprisingly clueless. As everyone can see at the moment, it is oil and gas that control the price of our energy. Domestic clean energy can protect us from the volatility of international fossil fuel markets.

I have a cycle lane running outside my home. I have cctv on the front of the house.
Today I reviewed on fast forward 10am to 11am. Zero cycles passed along the cycle lane.
This is not a trendy opinion, but I would rip up almost all Edinburgh's cycle lanes which clog the city and cause pollution from endless traffic queues.

Onion in recipes should be by weight not number, as they vary by size considerably. Tonight's dish requires "6 onions" which is anything from 300g to nearly 2.5kg. Based on what we had in our fridge, that is.
