Cultivated meat company @itsmeatable raised $35M in funding round, raising their total funding to $95M. The funding round was led by @AgronomicsLtd and existing investors, including @blueyard, Bridford, MilkyWay, DSM Venturing, and @taavet.

Chinese biotech company CellX launched China’s first large-scale pilot plant for cultivated meat. The new pilot plant has a capacity of 1,000 tons of cultivated meat. CellX says it will apply for regulatory approval in Singapore and the US, with the aim to launch by 2025.

The Netherlands has approved cell-based products to be tasted in controlled environments, becoming the first country within the European Union to approve tastings of cell-cultured products. Cell-based food tastings are currently permitted in Israel, Singapore, and the U.S.

There is a rapidly growing momentum and cultural shift towards alternative protein sources. Last year, cell-based meat and seafood companies raised $1.38 billion in investment. Investors are sending a clear message - they believe in the future of alternative protein.

Researchers from South Korea’s Pohang University have developed a bioink for 3D printing artificial organs and tissues that uses algae. The team used alginate derived from algae to create the ink, which enables enhanced cell viability and printing resolution.

A team of researchers from @ZJU_China have successfully grown the country's first centimeter-scale fish fillets using stem cell isolation and tissue construction. The researchers constructed a 3D scaffold with a gelatin-based gel to provide a structure for the cells to grow.

The momentum towards alternative protein sources is growing. In 2022: 156 companies were dedicated to producing cultured meat and seafood. $896M was invested in cell-based food companies. Investors are sending a clear message, they believe in the future of alternative protein.

Food tech company @itsmeatable held their first-ever cultivated meat tasting in Singapore, after receiving @SGFoodAgency's approval.  In the coming months, Meatable will organize more tastings in Singapore and internationally, to educate future partners and consumers.
