@Jeremyakee Tolkien is a realist. He knows that not everyone is salvageable.

There is a passage in The Two Towers which is arguably among the most important across the books.
Frodo and Sam are asleep outside the entrance to Shelob's lair when Smeagol sidles up to Frodo. Tolkien writes that anyone who saw him would have thought was just a very tired old hobbit. He is written in such affectionate terms here. It is clear that in this moment Smeagol was very close to embracing the Good. But Sam wakes up, assumes the worst about his intentions, and that's that. Smeagol was killed in that moment and Gollum was what remained.
The movies could and should have included this scene. It would have added SO MUCH depth to the already deep on screen character of Smeagol/Gollum.
We all wrestle with the good and evil in our own hearts. Not everyone wins that match. That is the lesson of Gollum in the books and movies alike.

@Christian_NYYST They aren’t gonna beat the Mets this time. Mets add Skubal at the deadline and go into the playoffs with Skubal-McLean-Peralta.

Here’s my take on the Dodgers.
They will not win 102 games this year. They are fully capable and could win 115 if they wanted to. They are so good that they will get bored of the day to day of 162 and unless San Diego really pushes them they’ll only need to win in the 95 games range and that’s where they’ll likely finish.
Again, it’s all about October and can they three peat. They will certainly be the favorites but remember last year they were a shoe lace away from losing.
Whoever comes out of the American League will have to play flawless baseball to take down LA in the World Series. It can be done. This isn’t to discredit any National League team. I think offensively the Mets do stand a chance. I don’t like their pitching staff as a whole to get past them.
That’s what this season is going to be about. Who can stay healthy and who amongst the Yankees, Mets, Blue Jays, Phillies and Mariners can make that one move at the deadline to help them in their quest to unseat the Dodgers as champions.

@austinreave @HyeseongKimMuse and also to get rid of this Dodger hating guy.

@CAMELCASTOff This is non sense.
You got your story wrong.
It was you doing all that.

Story time. I worked at GameStop for 11 years, starting in 2007. My store manager was a 500 lb man. I called him Egg.
Egg pretty much was the worst person I've ever met. He would schedule you during your mothers funeral and laugh about it.
Anyway. The worst thing Egg did was leave the store at 1pm (and stay clocked in stealing time). He would go to his buddy's house and have sex with hookers. This was in rural Alabama so you can imagine the quality of hooker. He came back at 5pm to clock out.
Eventually all the employees at the store including myself complained anonymously to upper management about it.
A few weeks later our District Manager came to the store "have a talk with Egg." He told Egg that he can no longer leave the store and steal time. He wasn't fired because our store ranked so well in sales metrics.(pro cards, reserves, etc).
Egg decided the best way to move forward was to BRING HOOKERS TO THE STORE. He would walk them in the front door, which children in the store, and go into the back room to proceed. Right next to our products in the store room.
After a few weeks, we made another anonymous tip. The REGIONAL director came to the store this time to investigate. Luckily, all the security tapes had been erased by our DM and Egg. No more questions were asked. Egg was not fired(because he ranked so well in metrics). He continued to do this hooker nonsense.
I was promoted to store manager soon after and leave to go to a different store. Egg worked at GameStop for another 10 years.

Pick a lane.
Thats all I ask.

@SavageNtheBox This literally just feeds the narrative. No one cares what this dude does in the regular season anymore

This is the worst possible answer. Tony is way in over his head. It’s game 2/162. They faced Freid and Schlittler. The response should be a chuckle and say “yeah we may not score a run this season”. This is going to be a bad experiment. The writing is on the wall.

"As of right now, it's a little emotional in there and there's a lot of try hard." Tony Vitello blames himself for the lack of offensive production over two games, citing a need for the locker room to loosen up.

@Jolly_Olive It's not the trumpets that matter, it's the whether the team one is playing for is a winner and makes the playoff every year.
Unlike the 2nd best baseball team in NY.

@KPILLAR4 @BlueBirdTerr Their identity is hanging banners for participation.

Thoughts after covering the game last night. Blue Jays have created an identity of who they are and how they play-pick each other up, next man up mentality. The facilities, ownership & the fans have made the Blue Jays a destination for players and their families. @BlueBirdTerr
English

@MLBONFOX I enjoyed the tribute, the primary focus was fan appreciation and how grateful this country is for the effort they gave and how proud we are of them. The players deserved to be recognized for that, raising the banner was not the focal point of the cerimony.
English

Idc about where your fandom stands.
I was trying give you and everyone else the benefit of the doubt. About knowing business and being smart about it. But I guess not. Foolish of me!
Also words matter Skip Bayless.

Enjoy that podcast.

I’m a Caleb Williams fan. But I was a much bigger Iceman Gervin fan, and I’m offended Caleb and Co. are trying to steal George’s all-time great nickname. I unleash on today’s Arena Gridiron 2:30 E.
