Yes, I got charged a $1,800 destination fee taking delivery at the Rivian plant. The R1 destination fee is now $1,895 and the R2 destination fee will be $1,495.

Friendly Reminder: You can request a factory delivery of your Rivian. They have a delivery center in the rear of the plant with a Gear Shop too. I did it on my R1T and it was a blast!

@RivianUpdates Maybe though: they've said a few times R2 shares zero parts with R1. Hopefully the picked a better component for that sensor or the surface conduction is better on piano black plastic (frunk/drop glass) than painted body panels.

This “button” is the same capacitive touch setup Rivian uses on the R1 charge port door.
That system has been pretty finicky in my experience, so I’m a bit cautious here. Hopefully this implementation is improved.
That said, having an exterior frunk release at all is a huge usability win.

Reservations redeemed for launch vehicles
vs
Reservations redeemed after Coastal Cloud interior
vs
Reserverations redeemed after Lidar + RAP1
More people will hold and eventually take, than take launch.

The one thing @Rivian should change is wheel/trim access.
Blocking the 20" bicolor wheel (left) on Performance trim is a crime against everyone saw + loved it like that for 2 years.
R2 is teen hippo. Chonky squircle beats spider webs. I want the wagon-wheel + butterfly effect.

@RivianTrackr Really interested in whether they’re plastic or stainless/aluminum. Only 10% of a hope for metal due to cost, but would be really happy if they got that right based on how poorly (especially rubberized plastic) holds up on mouse wheels.

There's no way in hell the $45,000 R2 comes "shortly thereafter" unless that translates to 1+ years. It's a different battery pack all together and sold at the lowest profit margin. They need to absolutely be milking buyers/margins with higher trims until there are no takers remaining. The order should be Performance Dual Motor Large, Dual Motor Large, RWD Large, and then finally RWD Standard.
