No..she had multiple dimensions between her scientific interests and the impact of being a cop's daughter, as well as her willingness to challenge Aunt May on Peter being a capable adult.
They just decided she was too much of good influence on Peter, too boring, and would make him too happy.

Been saying this for a while now.
I know that Kyle Rayner's girlfriend being "fridged" was the one that a big deal was made out of, but it was really Gwen's death that started the ridiculous trend.

@TBController @RealTruggler @ThayneCooney IIRC it was mentioned by writers that she wasn't dying in School, but looking at adapting darker arcs on "Direct to DVD' releases because the TV ratings were aimed at kids. That means the Gwen died would've been a 'direct to DVD release whilst the TV vers sent her off to London.

Yep this is a good opportunity since u'r showing this version of Gwen instead of the Watson version, I Hope the writers will put her out of Miles life and bring her back to what she was, it’s a win win for Peter and Miles fans, Miles have plenty of female characters he can be with

@Marvel_Insights Doesn’t matter it will end the same way. Gwen’s death is supposed to have a huge impact on Peter. Hopefully we get that if they decide to add her. The last one could have did that but they cancelled the 3rd movie.

Peter Parker is at Empire State University in Brand New Day (confirmed from trailer). In the comics, that's where Peter meets Gwen Stacy.

Story is Stan Lee wanted Peter and Gwen to end up together but Marvel didn't like her as a romantic partner so they decided to kill her to introduce MJ.
