@FelipeCar If you’re not ordering an espresso drink, then you’re barking at the moon. Coffee is watered down espresso. That’s why espresso + water = a “cafe americano”. It’s going to be watery

@ProBono28 @ryanburge But why would the church ordain people to the priesthood if they don’t hold the True Faith? Or not discipline them when they deviate?
English

@Fperrett @ryanburge As I said, practically speaking, one can refer to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (which was declared to be a “sure norm” for learning the faith).
English

@ProBono28 @ryanburge So if the clergy can't be trusted, then who is? The laity? Who's instructing the laity?
English

@Fperrett @ryanburge The reason is that the regular clergy (like the priests) are not the teaching authority per se. So it is possible for priest A to be heretical or unfaithful (after all Martin Luther was a priest and Judas was an apostle) and yet layperson B has access to true doctrines.
English

@ProBono28 @ryanburge How can it claim to be the True Church if after a generation the clergy believe and teach different things?
English

@Fperrett @ryanburge The doctrines are the same but compliance is not. The point is that, in any age, a Catholic who desires to be faithful has access to the true faith (even if there is widespread dissent).

@Fperrett @ryanburge I have a niece and nephew from nears Cincinnati that both got full rides to Alabama. At the time my kids were looking at schools the Bama recruiter said 57% of the students at Bama were from out of state.

In Spring of 2016, the on campus enrollment at Eastern Illinois University was 6,991.
In Spring of 2026, it was 3,660.
That's a decline of 48% in just ten years.
This is happening right now to dozens of directional universities throughout the Midwest.

I don’t think people have fully absorbed just how big the declines in student enrollment are going to be. Eight states are projected to experience DOUBLE DIGIT declines by 2031.

@BillHaydon_ @KalleSorbo Why not use a real photo of the thing you’re trying to describe instead of an AI one?

@realmattcarr “we invite you to honor your parents’ faith and decision by making the decision to do immersion baptism in order to become a member of our church”

Praying for First Pres Demopolis today - where I administered the Lord's Supper for the first time back in January and preach frequently.
They're a sweet church currently looking for a pastor - pray that the Lord calls the right man there.

You will not be surprised to learn that in the Nashville school system, Christmas break is "winter break" and Good Friday is "Spring break" but Ramadan is Ramadan.
Cabot Phillips@cabot_phillips
Nashville public schools are embracing Ramadan. Let's have a look at the people making this possible, shall we? 🧵🧵🧵

@AlondraInfinita @JLLiedl Yeah it seems to be a no brainer that one would want to communicate with the people to whom they minister. Not sure why this is news

@juventini1998 I have no idea.
But in Peru is the work of a Roman priest equivalent to the work of a governor in the United States?

@sassiterian We have a St. John the Baptist Catholic Church here, and about 30 miles west is Infant Baptist Church. Both names make me laugh for different reasons

@lovinglyprolife Couple hundreds bucks. He probably wouldn't hate a bottle of bourbon as well

@ryanvisconti Thanks for the response. Interesting to see the extent to which seasonality affects church attendance. Gotta be hard to plan for in a large church like that where a busy week might mean you need an extra 4000 seats!
English

It’s just growth. Like the 3rd week in May 2024 was 3,746, so the 4445 number in 2025 was up 18% over the previous year. We had a big growth spurt in Sept 2025 after Charlie was murdered. I actually made a mistake in my last response to you. The 2nd week of Nov 2025 was 6,130 up 50% from 4076 in 2024. Then the last week of December (normally a kinda low week) in 2025 was 5,170- up 38% from 3,747 in 2024. As January starts, attendance picks back up. Then it will start to slump as we get into summer time till school starts back up.

My first year as a pastor on staff was 2011 and the Easter attendance was in the mid-300’s. We relaunched the church as Generation Church in 2014 and our average weekly attendance by that point was about 500 people. I’ve heard from many pastors that seeing the progression of another church over a fairly long stretch like this has been encouraging to them. Hopefully, it encourages someone who has big vision and dreams of reaching more people for Jesus. I’ll admit, it’s pretty painful working through various growth barriers, but with grit and God’s help, anything is possible.
