I'm so out of touch, I don't even know if PC gamers these days still bother with sound cards... is that still a thing?
What I do remember, though, is that the Roland MT-32 was the most unachievable piece of hardware ever back in the day, at least for me.

1990 was an incredible year for gamers. Partly responsible was Wing Commander (Origin), probably one of the most iconic space combat sims in gaming history. Absolutely stunning graphics, an epic soundtrack (if you had the right sound card), movie-like cutscenes, and fantastic space combat. For a while, Wing Commander was king of the world.

Looking at the 90s, I would argue that:
🔥 id Software was the benchmark for FPS
🔥 MicroProse was the benchmark for simulations
🔥 Westwood was the benchmark for RTS
...but now it gets tricky, because I can't decide who the benchmark was for adventure games. I am torn between Sierra and LucasArts. Your vote please.

Kenji Kawai made something very different for the film GotS. However @YokoKannoCH 's "Inner Universe" is like the animation breathes as if it's a living thing. Such a great theme.
