If choking off global supply chains, firing military generals, causing millions of people to be displaced, thousands of deaths to innocent civilians, losing access to the Straight of Hormuz, putting the petrodollar in jeopardy, causing insecurity to the gulf states, and increasing the price of fertiliser, oil and gas is “winning”…god only knows what “losing” looks like.

…and before you try to twist my words, I’m fully aware that Iraq was the focus in Desert Storm. But every U.S. Navy ship had to transit the SoH to get to the Arabian Gulf. That transit is one of, if not the most stressful experiences for a ship’s crew. While we were fighting an unjust war in Iraq, we had to be constantly cognizant of Iran and its proxies in the region. Did you catch that? I called the war in Irag an unjust war. This time, in Iran, the term, “unjust”, doesn’t jibe with the history surrounding Iran.
