A judge in Thurston County has temporarily blocked part of a new Washington law aimed at increasing oversight of county sheriffs, just a day before it was set to take effect. The order came after an emergency hearing in Thurston County Superior Court on a lawsuit filed by sheriffs from Spokane, Pend Oreille, Stevens, and Ferry counties. A quick AI search showed county average actual value increase based on sales was 7% - not 50%. I contested latest assessment, showing the disparity - they set my assessment back to 1/2

Washington State DYSTOPIA ~ NOBODY KNOWS April 28, 2026 1. I called the Lewis County Assessor to find out why my property taxes have increased 33%. The Assessor couldn't explain HB 2049 (2025) mathematical calculation and told me to contact the State Treasurer's Office, open 10:00am to 2:00pm. 2. I called the new mortgage servicer, who told me that the property tax increase of 33% is based on the "predicted" property taxes for May 2026 to April 2027, information was received from the Lewis County Assessor’s Office. 3. I called WA State Treasurer's Office, and they told me to contact the WA Dept. of Revenue, which concocts mathematical formulas for all taxes. 4. I called WA Dept. of Revenue, who told me they have NO idea who even works in the Property Tax Dept. anymore and that they'll have to do some research because no one really knows how to calculate the School Enrichment Levy (HB 2049) at WA Dept. of Revenue. 5. I've put in a 4th call to Lewis County Auditor’s Office to speak to Ross Nielsen, the auditor, himself. I'm waiting for a call back. Pastor T.L.
