While that's true in principle (we vote for MP's), in practice it's really irrelevant. People vote for a platform, and that is the party's platform. People that voted for Gladu were voting for things like scrapping C-21, and other Conservative promises. An MP elected on one platform, who then defects to another party whose promises are at odds with the ones they were elected on, is not acting in the interest of their constituents. If that platform was the one the riding wanted, the MP representing it would have been elected instead. Gladu said as much in an interview, before of course completely abandoning those same principles because she's human excrement incarnate: Gladu stated to her local newspaper "Really, the whole point of being an MP is to represent your constituents. So if they’re voting you in under one platform –for you to switch for whatever reasons, just seems to me to not be representing what you’re supposed to be there to represent...
