We explore several explanations for this finding, and show that it is consistent with the argument that it is easier for the rich to buy themselves out of service when income inequality is high. 4/4

We find that 1. High country-level income inequality is associated w/ low willingness to fight for one's country; 2. The rich are less willing to fight than the poor when income inequality is high; 3. No difference between the rich and the poor when inequality is low 2/4
