We're hearing that some people are acting aggressively toward our plow drivers. Stop it. They have to drive slow to accurately put down product without wasting it. How 'bout we give our plow drivers a smile, or even a nice little wave.

No dice thanks to Amazon interns being housed at UW Dorms. That was was one of the craziest pieces of work I've done. All door boarding would have been handy

The other afternoon I saw 2 C Lines bunched up trying to turn right onto it from Westlake, seemingly stuck forever by cars boxing them out. Then they can't start the route from Fred Hutch on time.

@DavidL206 @loganb @SEAsheltie @andyrandles @pushtheneedle I have my favorites ... Several that are Ok, if you get the right timing ... and a bunch that are virtually useless (Olive and Terry being in that category in the afternoons)
Until SDOT seeks out feedback on how Queue lights are functioning, they are empty promises.

@DavidL206 @loganb @SEAsheltie @andyrandles @pushtheneedle I wrote up the light at Valley years ago due to chronic blocking by vehicles aiming to get onto I-5. The response was effectively no, because ... cars... Very curious to see if the queue jump light actually solves anything.

In this case there is no pedestrian crossing in that area but squaring that turn lets me keep an eye on drivers turning next to me.

@FixTheL8 So... Vote Yes on $1.55 Billion for a $10M project to "fix" the 8? I understand the logic and I've voted that way ... many times ... but I've lost my ability to do so again, for now at least.
Willing to change mind if I see other projects that went well

The Denny Way Repaving project just went to bid today. Missing from the plan: Any transit priority on one of the slowest and least reliable bus corridors in the city

@DavidL206 @seattledot I've taken to pulling out of the bus zone and blocking Olive Way with the bus until the light at Boren turns green. Traffic flows well enough that this strategy works... For now.

@DavidL206 Speaking of red paint and my cynicism... One glaring flaw in @seattledot's red paint is the signal / "bus lane" on Olive Way. On my 1st outbound trip (4:30pm-ish), the red "bus lane" is clogged with cars and the queue jump light is useless.

The reason we don't build more of these isn't because of zoning, it's because nobody actually wants to live in them. You quickly discover that you spend your life on stairs. The living space on the second floor means carrying *everything* up stairs every time you come home. The only person this design serves is developers who can convince people that they can live in expensive neighborhoods where where land is finite and expensive. Eventually they move a few miles away where they discover the joy of unloading groceries without doing a workout. That's why we have suburbs and cars. 🇺🇸

@DavidL206 And I-5? That's still a shit show dating back to the 60's. Friday Night reroute is still available though I have yet to find a traffic condition where it would be useful. Looking forward to confusing a load of passengers with that

@DavidL206 Amazon return to office has been noticeable (first trip is almost like the good old days - almost packed loads) but between Microsoft's perma-Hybrid office and Microsoft connector, return trips are pretty chill. Even 520 has been reasonably well behaved.

@DavidL206 I've seen some positive changes recently (two former dead weight employees let go - Shocking) so who knows...
But, for now, I'm focused on safety and trying not to let my cynicism take over.

@DavidL206 Zero interest. I was just thinking that I loved this job and was passionate but I'm spent. For the foreseeable future, this is just a job in my mind. Best Schedule with least amount of hassles. If you see me pick Bellevue Base, you'll know I've passed the Rubicon ...
