Our independence as a separate entity from EU has been curtailed which is why we have fines if we turn away migrants (up to €20k), if we don’t meet their green targets, etc. We voted Lisbon down, it should have been honoured.

It was rejected once, amendments were made that gave guarantees around neutrality, taxation etc and then it was voted through the second time after these amendments. Is that not democracy?

This is not ancient history. This is the logic that still governs every "democracy promotion" operation today. Democracy is acceptable when it produces the "right" results. When it does not, you cancel the election, back a coup, fund the opposition, impose sanctions, and call the government that the people actually chose a "dictatorship." Vietnam exposed this logic completely. Not with arguments. With history. With the receipts.
