@wolfstrength There's something that gets lost in translation when I (we) say this type of stuff on here that REALLY enrages people People doing personal attacks etc But I wish people would ask themselves do you turn your head when you see someone benching 315 in a gym?

I love that normies think a 315 bench like Hegseth's is some crazy feat of strength. That it's rarely achieved and you have to be a genetic specimen to do it. Meanwhile all the lifters are like "nice, that's a pretty decent bench"

Yeah! Overhead press is hard. It takes a lot of dedication to make gains, and there are easier, more efficient ways to build big shoulders. I always wanted a huge press because I think it's cool. If I got big shoulders in the process, that's great, but what I desire is a big press. Point being: I think the people who get rubbed the wrong way by the blanket advice to make small games are probably the same people who don't want to play small games. Staying motivated matters above all else, and if you're forcing yourself to do something you don't care about because other people who are wired differently told you to, then that's going to be just as bad for your work ethic as taking on a big project you can't finish. People should follow their instincts because at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if a study shows most people respond better to lateral raises than they do to OHP, for an individual, the study of themselves is N=1.

@code4broke oof not much! I am not a fan of the overhead press, it's so insanely difficult and very tricky to make progress. I've never done a 1 rep max, heaviest I've done is something like 4 reps of 50kg. Very hard

If you're making games just for fun then there are no rules! Make whatever you want and spend whatever time and resources you want. If it's just for fun then as long as you're having fun and enjoying the journey you're doing great! Personally I do fitness for fun, I go to the gym every day, I run, I lift, I've been doing it for almost 10 years, I've spent thousands of dollars on gym memberships, equipment, supplements, etc. And in all that time I've made $0 from it which is fine since money is not the goal! I'm enjoying the journey and have no intention whatsoever of turning that hobby into a job. But if your goal is to make games for a living then it really pays to listen to advice from people who have done it previously. And if you want to make games for a living and increase your odds of success then the best strategy is indeed make multiple small games and don't spend years working on your dream game.

@UnityCodeMonkey Genuine question: What if I don't care if my indie game is succesful and I just want to create my dream game? I'm talking spending years on it, even having to break it down and start over? I see the reasoning obviously, but I feel like it doesn't cover all indie developers imo...

Anyway, we’re going to keep leveraging the success of Palworld to help cool people make cool games. Like Vision Quench, which is made by 3 young wizards in the US. It’s about wizards searching underground supermarket dungeons for goop or something. It’s fun.

Solo devs: stop building AAA open worlds. You’re choosing Hard Mode and killing your chances in 2025. Here’s the faster path to a game people actually play (and share): 🧵🔥

So. After 4 years of polishing my indie game Twisted Tower... sometimes I wonder if it would make better sense to just drop the project. So, I did a beta test. Here are the results: youtube.com/watch?v=Injjen…

I'm seeing a lot of indie developers analyzing the market to try and release the proper game at the ideal time in an effort to get rich on game development. I’m not saying what I’m doing is somehow more virtuous, you can do what ever you want. But can you dipshits stop making YouTube videos telling me I’m approaching game development wrong because I didn’t start with a hook and research what genre is trending? Most people entering the industry just want to make the games they'd want to play and do not care about LARPing as a triple-A game studio without the budget.

Can someone explain the hype of Hallow Knight to me? It completely flew under my radar, I've never heard a single person mention it or mention having played it in real life until a week ago.

What's the coolest medieval melee weapon you can think of that I could add to this game? Looking for suggestions, bonus points for weapons rarely seen.

Making your own video game is sweet because you get to add stuff other developers wouldn't, presumably because they don't have severe body dysmorphia
