The parent who teaches their kid to say please to Alexa isn’t doing it for Alexa. They’re doing it because the alternative is raising someone who learns that being rude gets faster results. Telling 900 million people to stop saying thank you so OpenAI can save 0.01% of operating costs is the most engineer-brained optimization take on the internet. You’re training yourself to treat every interaction as a transaction. And that habit doesn’t stay in the chat window.

Heads up for people traveling to Canada. Just avoid @WestJet. Their customer service is horrible. The response from online chat is essentially, "Due to limited access over live chat I am unable to help you." Calling their 888-937-8538 leads to 90 minutes on hold with no response.

Hey @WestJet! You cancelled a flight of mine on Thursday, then your automated system decided that my best flight was the next day (uh, no), so I finally got a rebooked flight later in the day. Took a look at your app today and there is now no sign of my return flight. /1
