Prediction:
Hegseth is gonna be the fall guy for the war
72% of Americans oppose a ground war, which is the only way Trump can ‘win’ this thing now. Everyone is upset about gas prices & market decline. Trump’s approval rating is 35%
He’ll bomb for a few more weeks, hoping for a break. He won’t get it
But his political instincts are good enough not to invade. The GOP would get hammered in November if a ground war went badly, and that would mean Congressional investigations next year

@JacobAShell Agree but don’t a lot of belief systems (religious, ideological, etc) confer social authority/ status? Why ‘wokeness’? I don’t disagree about the incentives being there once it got set in motion.

A reasonable take I heard (from a millennial) is that wokeness happened because millennials looked around and saw that they had no transcendent belief system to guide them and give their lives meaning and so they just turned up the volume on Boomer anti racism because that was on hand. I think that’s right. It doesn’t explain everything but it’s definitely it’s definitely psychology true in an important way.
