It was a 5 year dream that came true about 8000kms ago. I’ve been a Tesla owner for a few months now and have not posted anything about while I’ve been getting to know my new tool. Planning some FSD videos on my adventures around Auckland (city/rural roads). NZ is currently on v13.2.9

@willfleming Well, I’m 6k+ kms in already and loving it. Smoothest Tesla I have owned and has power when u need it. Even the wife loves it. FSD will be the icing on the cake for a genuinely versatile car!

Another day on the road testing the good, the bad, and the critical of the new FSD v14.3.3 DU update on our Kiwi roads. That said - I’ve been having to do a heap of manual driving because FSD is having trouble not seeing speed signs, or the navigation isn’t locking onto the correct speed. A day after installing this version - I’ve started having issues with my front-facing camera. This could just mean that my Model 3 needs a front camera cleaning service (booked in for this week), or maybe it’s a software issue. I’m not sure, and I’ve raised this with Tesla NZ. I personally think it’s weird that, since the update, the car can’t “see” anymore but maybe it’s just bad timing so I’ll take it in and get it checked out. Other than that - when I can drive using FSD - it’s been very, very good, minus a few critical moments 😂, including one I’ve shared where it nearly drove me over the kerb! I’ve seen some pretty varied reports of v14 DU, with a few crazy stories, but for the most part T.O.O.L. (my car’s name) has been pretty good. I’m loving the speed modes. Keen to hear your thoughts and experiences locally here in NZ and Oz.

@willfleming Absolutely loving it. I'm currently on 92% fsd right now with only the odd intervention for odd navigation. Other than that it's been almost flawless, door-to-door driving.

@GDickins Mate, thanks for your near sacrifice to get the data and insights to us. Something is making this version very dumb. The pulling back in after passing knowing it can’t but doing it anyway is wild.

@Taths3022 Think you’re right. I would have thought it’s looking at what the nav is “telling” it what to do though. But yeah, updating nav is critical.

Had a bit of a critical moment today with FSD v14 DU where it nearly drove me into the kerb. In the moment, it didn’t feel that bad, but watching it back, it could have gone much worse. I also thought my front camera needed servicing because it wouldn’t read speed signs, but I’ve seen a few people here on X saying they’ve encountered something similar. Basically, FSD v14 DU just isn’t reading speed signs reliably (for me). A new day with new adventures tomorrow…

I mean I’ll never know for sure but I’m nearly sure that v13 wouldn’t have done this. My hope is that we will get small updates with improvements like the US does and not be stuck on this version for another 6 months etc. It’s still a great version when it’s not driving me off the road 😂

@willfleming For the most part FSD does not read speed limit signs. It gets speed limits from its map data. There are exceptions like temporary speed limits, but in general driving it isn't using signage. Can look like it is reading signs as map data generally tries to match sign locations.

Took my brother out for a spin to see what all the “hype” was about with FSD v14 DU was about. He’s a builder and has always been a bit of a petrol head, so I was interested in his take on a robot on wheels. Fair to say this was not the best drive. Firstly, FSD v14 is having trouble reading speed signs. v13 did miss a few, but for the most part it was flawless. This version is struggling from my observation. With that said, it was still pretty impressive, and my bro noted the power - especially coming into and out of bends. Second, we had a critical moment when it wanted to drive us over a kerb, and then it parked in a disabled parking space, which is not great. Good to take my big bro out for a spin. Are other v14 DU users finding it’s a bit average at reading speed signs?

@BruceTa55302936 100% pretty rough on the wallet to do that for two cars. Do you have issues charging two Teslas at home? I’ve been wondering what my strategy will be around charging.

My wife has the Model 3 with FSD paid. She loves it and mostly drives herself but less so now it is faster. I have the Model S with FSD paid on HW3 and so cannot use FSD. So I am now constantly trying to steal her car. Mine was paid before I purchased it second hand. I'm not that excited by the idea of paying for FSD in two cars monthly. I hope it comes down for people over time.

The time has come to get my wife in the FSD v14 DU hot seat for a test drive. At first she said it felt the same but as we hit the first corner - she could feel the power and assertiveness of this new version. It’s been one of the biggest surprises for me that “the boss” actually likes FSD more than me haha. I’d better keep working hard to so I can buy my wife her own Tesla and give back mine 😂

@willfleming In the service area look at your cameras when stopped. Make sure they all look like nice clear images.

@willfleming @stefanolson My biggest adventure was getting the back wheels stuck in the mud on wet grass dropping my daughter off at football. I looked like a right idiot not able to go anywhere. Four lads pushing me out saved the day. Phew!! 😂⚽️👍🤦
