@puneeta00 Check out the amazing deal Zipstall has going with Dalla that you can use towards your next lasagna (zipstall.com/localdollars). Best parking app + Get paid to park + Amazing deals at local businesses = Game Changer
@WeSpeakYEG@GlobalEdmonton The first step in creating affordable parking is creating a marketplace for it. Check out zipstall.com/off-market-pas… for how we help people save on parking by giving the Power to the Parkers!
Paid parking at city facilities, third-party operation of rec centres, golf courses on the table: City of Edmonton's 'Reimagine' plan #Echobox=1617061196" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">edmontonsun.com/news/local-new…
@SnowJob15@CheryllYEG This is exactly what happens today. Free is not the answer. We believe creating a marketplace and a better parking experience that supports local business is the answer. Check us out at zipstall.com
@CheryllYEG Ummm.....probably not a good idea. How do you plan to enforce short term parking b/c employees downtown will take over the area because its "free". Then those that need it won't have it. Back to the drawing board!!
How many times have you avoided going downtown because of expensive or hard-to-find parking? If it's even once, I want to change that.
Creating free, accessible short-term parking in the core and improving the app will help our #yegdt businesses succeed: cheryllwatson.ca/platform
@gdnicholson@CheryllYEG Hilarious! Zipstall is trying to evolve the future of downtown parking by making it something you don't have to worry about so you can get excited about supporting local businesses. Check us out at zipstall.com
@edmontonassist@CheryllYEG We are also not big fans of 2 hour time limits. We understand they are designed to keep these prime stalls turning over for other people, but it also presses parkers to leave after 2 hours...we think you should be encouraged to enjoy our downtown businesses as long as you like.
@CheryllYEG I avoid parking downtown due to the 2 hour limit. If you want to park longer you end up parking in an Impark or similar. I do frequent the market due to the free parking. I don’t use transit because it’s almost nonexistent in my area and takes too long.
@GemmaBee99@CheryllYEG Gemma you are right that the southside has some amazing businesses, but Downtown is able to offer experiences that are unique to the core. Our mission is to improve the Downtown experience and think we have the recipe. We are very excited to see what we can do to change this!
@JayMerryfield@CheryllYEG Hey Jayson, we agree, but think we can actually be both. By helping parkers find the best parking quickly and getting them parked and off the streets, then they can spend more time supporting the amazing businesses in the core.
@Granigank@CheryllYEG We agree Kelly, people that are benefitting from parking should be paying for their own parking. Zipstall is actually able to increase parking revenues while decreasing the costs of operating parking which leaves more money in the City's pockets which will help to reduce taxes!
@alixplicitly@KadyDane@DinicolaNicola@CheryllYEG The other part that hasn't been brought up is that by using tax money to subsidize parking the market for parking is also undercut which means less parking revenue...sounds good if you are a parker, but when you consider property taxes are based on revenue it is a bigger problem.
@keptbykuno@CheryllYEG You make a great point. Wanted to highlight that Zipstall (new parking app that is launching this week) is developing a filter to let you know where accessible stalls are and will also be working to track their availability. We hear you and are going to deliver the solution.
@dstn_m@CheryllYEG We agree Dustin. Parking should be charged for, we just think that rates should be set in an open marketplace where customers have the power to find what they want without having to go to ePark, Hangtag, Honk, etc.
@CheryllYEG Just replace the word 'free' with 'subsidized'. If you are going to subsidize transportation, pick the modes with the highest return on investment: 1) Walking; 2) Cycling; and 3) Public transit.
@blondeshaunayeg@CheryllYEG Hey Shauna, not sure when you have to testify, but with our new, made in Edmonton solution is about to launch in the next week. Check us out and hopefully we can improve your Downtown experience. Would love to hear what you think after using it!
@CheryllYEG Sooooo many times!
The E-Park system is actually pretty good and affordable, but if you can't get a spot and are forced to use a parkade or lot? Nope.
I'm DREADING April - I was served a subpoena to testify as a witness and parking downtown gives me the worst anxiety.
@SeanLee_tweets@CheryllYEG Sean we think you hit the nail on the head. Not a supply issue at all. We blame the existing parking apps for not providing better access to the inventory, but instead of pointing our fingers we just stepped up to fix it. App just went live. zipstall.com
@CheryllYEG Ridiculous. Downtown is incredibly over-parked. People don't come for parking, they go destinations , events, and experiences. People who claim they can't find parking are really saying they're bad at simple problem solving.
@RyantYoung@CheryllYEG We agree that the City should focus on expanding transportation networks, but the good news is that we can have both an improved transit system (City to address) and a more efficient/user-friendly parking experience (Zipstall to address). Check us out at zipstall.com
@leehaber@CheryllYEG We agree Lee. The local businesses are the lifeblood of our Downtown. We have created the best platform for parking and also give users the Local List with all our amazing partner businesses with incentives to support them. Let us know what you think. zipstall.com
@BarbJG@CheryllYEG Hey Barb we agree. Free parking sounds nice, but is proven to perpetuate the problem...reason paid parking is a thing in the first place. Our goal is to get any people that choose to drive off the roads quickly and supporting local business. zipstall.com
@NucksOnNet@CheryllYEG Hey Stephen hope you will check out Zipstall. We are creating a marketplace for parking in our app that shows you all options including the free ones. Plus when you tell us where you parked and the availability we reward you with Local Dollars redeemable at local businesses.
@KatyIngraham@CheryllYEG Problem is that free parking just gets abused and it is not the people that you want to benefit that do. Ask how many people are just "restarting" their sessions every half hour and going back to their office to get unlimited free parking. Parking needs to have to cost to work.
@5351135z@CheryllYEG Hey Ross our strategy to address market pricing is to create a marketplace for all parking in Downtown. By putting the power of the information into everyone's hands, supply and demand will sort things out and the customers will win. zipstall.com
