There’s lots of police and volunteer work in Xinjiang to destroy any that grows here I actually visited a drug education centre in Xinjiang and they said it grows so much because birds often eat hemp seeds and drop them while feeding or maybe carry them on their bodies etc. but also because cannabis pollen spreads so easily especially with strong winds here in mountains, its why you find it all over the place

@96Stats @RnaudBertrand But…why? Cannabis is non toxic, wildly useful as an agricultural product, and even its drug derivatives have had no known cases of lethal overdose. (And wild hemp has such low volumes of THC-A that make them useless in drug harvesting.) Serious question though. I don’t get it

@96Stats 1/2 If no one abuses it then why destroying it? It is just a natural plant there in its original natural habitat. It is not plant's fault that somebody somewhere is abusing it.

@96Stats during the early Qing dynasty, the court eradicated specific poisonous trees in southern China that indigenous groups had used to coat weapons. one can easily imagine how US might have weaponized these trees, expanding their use into a WMD. different culture, different mindset.

@96Stats This is going too far tbh. Chinese local breeds in the wild are, although a same species, not weed. Smoking them doesn't give you anything. Wiping them out may count as a 'job done', but also killing a thousand years old species. Ppl used to make clothes with them before cotton.
