Four young men stole more than $50,000 in goods from the Berkeley Apple store on Sunday after telling a security guard, "You can’t stop us," authorities report.

@BerkeleyScanner If the cops catch them maybe our district attorney Pamela Price will give them after school detention in the spirit of non-carceral punishment and "stop criminalizing our youth" and all her other feel good campaign slogans.
@BerkeleyScanner When people get the idea that no one will stop them this is what happens. There is no risk for the criminals. No likelihood of being caught, even if caught no real punishment.
If security guards and employees routinely captured such thieves they’d be fearful rather than brazen.
@BerkeleyScanner There is (sadly) a business opportunity to create something like a Stingray, but easily operated by retail outlets, to capture the unique IMEI IDs of the phones of shoplifters, to get their phone # & identity & start legal proceedings.

@BerkeleyScanner The 32% increase is reported theft. Petty theft is so established at this point that it’s not only unreported, it’s practically institutionalized.
@BerkeleyScanner Pretty soon the shopping experience will be very different in states with these totally ridiculous “under $1k of theft items is a misdemeanor” laws. Everything will be locked up, except for the thieves.
@BerkeleyScanner The robberies need to keep happening until every woke corporation that has publicly supported leftist causes loses so much money from robberies that they decide they need to publicly support aggressive policing and prosecution
@BerkeleyScanner Ahhh...longing for the good old days when you could club, arrest, or shoot criminals? Our civilization hangs in the balance while lefties come up with more excuses to not hold anyone accountable for their actions. Your Macbook Pro just got more expensive.
