@CNN Wow don't be so proud most companies have given those benefits for ages prior to becoming fortune 500 companies. Some companies didn't build wealth off paying employee peanuts and offering next to nothing benefits, won't applaud for something they should have done long time ago

@CNN “Wow, with all this money we get from the tax cuts we gotta give our employees something...hmm, how about sick leave?”😂😂😂

@CNN Hold up. A company that primarily deals in beverage and food sales didn't ALREADY give their employees sick leave? That's hella problematic & this isn't something that should be praised, we should be shaming them for not doing it before.

@CNN It's bizarre that most restaurants don't provide sick leave. I worked at Panera for years - you call in sick you get a point. I went to work sick many times. Not what I would want as a customer.

@CNN Reading these comments, as a Brit and a European, I find myself amazed yet again at what passes for normality in the US.

@CNN I’m not praising you for doing something you should of been doing from the start Starbucks. You get 0 points for this.

@CNN So all this time they have been essentially forcing sick employees who need the money to come to work and serve us food. Well that's just fucking great.

@CNN That headline makes the US sound like a third world country. Why no sick leave as standard.? Who would want to move there?

@CNN How embarassing that they have to admit they havent been treating their employees fairly until now. No sick leave...shameful, but glad they are finally joining the rest.

@CNN @Libbyextra Seriously? This would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic. They wonder why people in the US are so unhappy. People in other countries are living fuller, happier, and healthier lives.

@CNN I used to work in grocery stores for years. People came in with the flu, threw up out back, then came back to their register. And got yelled at for not moving fast enough. Paid sick leave should be the norm for ALL food service jobs.

@CNN How is this JUST happening?! Food service employers have a responsibility of serving safe products, including products not contaminated by contagious employees. This should be regulated for the safety of customers, just like washing hands and sanitized work spaces are.
