@CodeRed_dev Just go to steam instead... Had at least the cost of production covered and I did no advertising at all for my first little game back then. (You can check it out tho!)store.steampowered.com/app/1953380/Du…

@CodeRed_dev Wow! That's so inspiring, I hope to one day be as successful as you. Though, admittedly... I've a long way to go yet! Keep it up!

@CodeRed_dev Being indie isn't an easy task especially if you have form of social anxiety or weirdness... Like for example dealing with being LGBT member...

@CodeRed_dev $500? That’s good!
(I’m aware that it’s 100x less than that I’m just making a joke)

@CodeRed_dev Just gotta keep pushing on (And maybe have a big streamer shout us out, wink wink)
English

@CodeRed_dev Just gotta keep pluging away at it. 😭 is this on itch?

@CodeRed_dev I'm lucky in that its only a hobby for me. With these numbers it works out to $0.05 per download! And most of my views will be people playing online via the #pico8 HTML player. That goes down to < $0.01

@CodeRed_dev That's why we always make sure to pay for the games we play and if it's free on itch, we donate anyway.
English

@CodeRed_dev I'm thinking i have to find something else to do
English

@CodeRed_dev Aiming at at least 5k with the first game, but money is not the main factor here. Still you want something back, even if these means some 🥜
English

@CodeRed_dev I have 0 dollars!! :D
Didn't release my game yet though..

@CodeRed_dev Gotta be a businessman first. You have to find a good point of both making a fun interesting game you want to work on... that is also marketable. Tough one to do. I'd also say you really gotta polish all aspects of the game to a certain point. It's rare to do all aspects solo.

As someone who has released a game in the past and made nothing i suggest you look into the psychology of making a game fun and keeping players engaged. The problem with Xenoscape was engagement, getting players to try the game is somewhat easy keeping them engaged is complicated. Part of making a game is discovering ways to keep a player hooked. Look into similar games and try to identify the psychology that keeps players coming back in them. Your game seems similar to binding of Isaac, enter the gungeon, or nuclear throne. look into this post reddit.com/r/bindingofisa… also try learning about skinner boxes and mazlos hierarchy
