@CodeRed_dev Being indie isn't an easy task especially if you have form of social anxiety or weirdness... Like for example dealing with being LGBT member...

@CodeRed_dev I'm lucky in that its only a hobby for me. With these numbers it works out to $0.05 per download! And most of my views will be people playing online via the #pico8 HTML player. That goes down to < $0.01

@CodeRed_dev That's why we always make sure to pay for the games we play and if it's free on itch, we donate anyway.

@CodeRed_dev Aiming at at least 5k with the first game, but money is not the main factor here. Still you want something back, even if these means some 🥜

@CodeRed_dev Gotta be a businessman first. You have to find a good point of both making a fun interesting game you want to work on... that is also marketable. Tough one to do. I'd also say you really gotta polish all aspects of the game to a certain point. It's rare to do all aspects solo.

As someone who has released a game in the past and made nothing i suggest you look into the psychology of making a game fun and keeping players engaged. The problem with Xenoscape was engagement, getting players to try the game is somewhat easy keeping them engaged is complicated. Part of making a game is discovering ways to keep a player hooked. Look into similar games and try to identify the psychology that keeps players coming back in them. Your game seems similar to binding of Isaac, enter the gungeon, or nuclear throne. look into this post reddit.com/r/bindingofisa… also try learning about skinner boxes and mazlos hierarchy
