@CodeRed_dev they definitely are not :D
English

@CodeRed_dev Eh, I still make them. For me it's more just a version of personal record keeping so I can look back one day ... and potentially cringe 😉
English

@CodeRed_dev In twitter format, but in youtube I think it still viable
English

@CodeRed_dev after all the firings think just gamdevs in general kinda dead on the inside.
English

@CodeRed_dev Mine are just short 2-4 minute updates of what I've changed or implemented. None of that entertainment devlog bs.
English

@CodeRed_dev Noo I love seeing them so much, at least on youtube or reel format
English

@CodeRed_dev Dev logs are typically something other developers would be interested in.
I would say most gamers don't follow or watch a lot of devlogs,
They might if you provide a strong before vs after.
English

@CodeRed_dev Well. I’ve seen YouTube channels go from 0 subs to like 6k from one video. I just don’t know how they do it 😭
English

@CodeRed_dev Define "dead".
I think devlogs have a rising amount of potential. The maximum possible quality of videos including everything from editing, footage, scripts, and all of that is only getting better.
That said, the actual quality is often mediocre and it's hard to stand out.
English

@CodeRed_dev Since I'm one of those who have no idea how to even make one, I've been streaming my progress on Twitch and clipping a few funny or interesting moments.😂👌

English

@CodeRed_dev One trend I do not like in modern devlogs is the arms race to make them look pristine and markettable.
"The game is progressing smoothly, here's some new features, like and subscribe."
NO. Show me the struggle, show me the project-specific solutions.
English

@CodeRed_dev Or twitter is dead??
English

@CodeRed_dev I follow like 10 or 15 YouTube dev logs. They help keep me inspired to keep going. I want to make one myself but video editing is intimidating.
English

@CodeRed_dev Tbh I'm a big fan of reading through devlogs. Point form ones organized well are very nice, on steam especially.
English

@CodeRed_dev We wanna start makin em too but where do people find the time????
English

@CodeRed_dev Good. That means less competition for the people still doing them.
English

@CodeRed_dev I'd love so make devlogs but it takes too much time that I 'd rather spend making the actual game
English

@CodeRed_dev Oof I started a Substack to make a Devlog of my projects, research, and ideas
English

@CodeRed_dev Used to have one at gamedev dot net but they made a bunch of changes so I couldn't figure out the site anymore.
Indiedb also not at all what it used to be.
English

@CodeRed_dev I write two each year (for my game jam entries), does it count?
English

@CodeRed_dev Considering what kinda bafoons are in charge here no surprise that you think this way
