@CodeRed_dev Don't forget the mandatory ctrl+s every 5 minutes even if no changes were made
English

Let's be honest, getting into that level of concentration take a minute. I work from home on my games and every question my kids ask me requires a reboot to reconcentrate.
- Muffled garble from kids in the distance
"Wait wait did you say?"
- Takes a moment to come back to RL
"Dad, what kind of personality does a fly have"
- Busts out the wine and closes the office door
English

@CodeRed_dev Ah, the classic "5-minute check-in" that somehow spans hours of YouTube tutorials and cat videos. Procrastination: the secret sauce of every great game dev! 😂🎮✨
English

@CodeRed_dev They say it takes 10000 hours to master a skill.
This works out at about 2:45 hours practice a day, every day - no exceptions.
For ten solid years.
You don't have to be a slave to your projects, but if you're not handling them with dedication, then what ARE you doing? 🤔
English

@CodeRed_dev Did that today... my procrastination session took about 40 mins today so far
English

@CodeRed_dev 90% of making progress really is just sitting down and opening up the project.
English

@CodeRed_dev Spot. On.
Or better yet, open the project and while the software f***ing loads, proceed to go watch youtube
English

@CodeRed_dev It's hard. When procrastination kicks in, I...
✅ take a short walk to clear my mind
✅ break tasks into smaller, manageable steps
✅ set small goals to stay motivated
It really helps me get back on track! 💚
English

@CodeRed_dev Pretty sure this is 90% of writing and creating in general.
English

@CodeRed_dev I never open my project unless I have a short list of goals I can realistically achieve in a few hours. It’s been great for avoiding burnout, I always walk away with something checked off the to do list no matter how small.
English

@CodeRed_dev I confirm then you have 1 day of hyperfixation and the next your brain is too tired
English

@CodeRed_dev Use that 5 minutes to do stuff you dont enjoy on your game win win situation.
English

@CodeRed_dev Or move things one pixel down or one pixel up haha
English

@CodeRed_dev And sound work and video editing too, its a creative feel across all CPU dev like programs lol.
English

@CodeRed_dev And that's why game dev should be goal oriented.
English

@CodeRed_dev I think you mean it's 90% of gamedevs on twitter ;)
I might be one 🤣🤣🤣
English

@CodeRed_dev I always leave whatever software I currently need open in the background... Video game loading screens are my most productive game dev times
English

@CodeRed_dev Writing for three minutes and getting sidetracked with researching information that doesn't matter..
English

@CodeRed_dev Can confirm, as a sound designer/composer, that's how it be sometimes
English

@CodeRed_dev Foes flying around the level count as work?
English

@CodeRed_dev The other 10% is thinking about "what to do next" without effectively working on it 😂😂
English

@CodeRed_dev It plays perfectly in your head already - why bother trying to convert it to reality?
English

@CodeRed_dev Faster you can iterate, the more fun game dev is imo
English

@CodeRed_dev This is me but instead of procrastinating it’s fine tuning an unnecessary detail that only I will notice
