For those who don't know, Gadaffi's Great Man Made River Project was in the process of re-greening the entire Libyan Sahara and part of the Sahel using vast underground fossil water reserves. So when the White People Coalition Army arrived in 2011, they bombed the project sites and even its pipe factory so that the Sahara and North Sahel would remain poor, underpopulated, and eternally dependent on food imports. Little history lesson.

It's high time we Africans accepted the grim reality that the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy, not give us life and give it abundantly. I think we still hold onto the idea that these are mistakes, deviations from the norm, work of a few bad apples, the West is normally good, their intentions are noble, if only they stopped believing racist depictions about us, etc. But this isn't just about individual intention. It's the way these guys are wired through their values, their culture and institutions. They can't not do what they're doing. I think accepting that would change the way we consider the way forward.
